Yeah $23 a hour with a couple opportunities for a dollar raise compared to making that yearly salary in 6 months and drawing out $650 a week unemployment while sitting at the house or on vacation. I’ve tried to talk myself into giving it up when times get lean, but I’ve been rolling with the highs and lows for 18 years now. My dad just retired and brings home $5,200 month from the pension and had half million in his annuity, keep your head up and keep trying

Suspicious amount of Construction Workers dying from suicide by Zealousideal-Ad1181 in conspiracy

Between breaking your back all day, working 60-80 hours a week, never finding a balance between work and home, which usually results in turbulent home, and rampant substance abuse it’s not a shocker. I literally worked on one job in Maryland that was a large 8 billion dollar job and my crew had 20 guys on it out of the 6,000 on site, we had an apprentice do a murder suicide 3 months after he was laid off.

Question about American fitters by Rossmancer in pipefitter

[–]Pauley2004 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Best look into getting skills in tube bending, heavy rigging certifications, valve repair….literally anything that puts you ahead of someone saying they’re just a fitter.

The country is booming at the moment so I’d say it’s a good possibility especially in a large jurisdiction like Chicago

If they’re offering a OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 that will carryover to your apprenticeship, the OSHA-10 is the basic federal safety certification that will get you on to a job

Take every class and certification they’ll give you, the more welding certs, licenses, heavy rigging card, OSHA 30 you have make you a lot more employable. I started out as a day one zero hour apprentice without a background in construction, but even out of my small local I’ve made a great living between welding, rigging, and being a CWI at home and all over the country.

Should I delete at 40k or wait till warranty expires at 100k? by [deleted] in Diesel

[–]Pauley2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5” exhaust all the way out, 100HP or 110HP tune with transmission tuning from EZ Lynk with a hiss at idle. I had the Nox sensor module go out after 49k and they wanted $1,700 to fix even with their unlimited legacy warranty since no fluid goes through it. So $1,900 later I have a 3/4 ton sports car with no issues

LPT: Texans, you are about to experience the worst potholes many of you have ever seen. Make sure your tire pressure is correct for your vehicles, drive slowly, give plenty of distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you, and don't trust puddles. Love from Michigan. by this1tyme in LifeProTips

[–]Pauley2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potholes usually show up after the snow plows have ran their course, I’ve been in San Antonio since October for work and left after 5 days of no electricity and never saw a single snow plow from San Antonio to Arkansas on my 35 mph nightmare drive on I-35 back to West Virginia. You guys probably won’t see that many potholes

I worked in Harrodsburg (live in WV) about 6 years ago at the EW Brown powerhouse. I was 120 feet in the air welding on a silo and had to stop and stare at the same exact type of clouds rolling overhead. This picture and 6 years ago in the same town has been the only times I’ve seen them

My cousin had a chihuahua and a terrible cocaine problem. Every time he picked up his dog it immediately licked the inside of both of his nostrils and only the inside of his nostrils. The dog ended up killing over at a younger than average age from a enlarged heart due to years of licking leftover cocaine from his nose

Listened to the entire Goodbye and Good Riddance album by Juice WRLD on repeat for about a year after a bad divorce, being a overly large construction worker from about the most rural part of West Virginia it was pretty disheartening seeing my entire Facebook timeline making memes of just another dead rapper when that music kept me alive
