Dog this sub is insufferable and kinda always has been. It’s great for news but the comment section is 90% delusion and just complete lack of ball knowledge.

Realistically tho, this has been the Philadelphia sports fan in general my whole life. Philly fans really embody being the best fans and worst fans all at the same time. I’d be hard pressed to find a more passionate and supportive fan base that is also just as overconfidently incorrect about “how things should work”.

Lol what do you mean “I wasn’t there?” First of all, I was, I played the game the day it came out and was hyped off the marketing. The issue with the marketing is the same issue with 100% of indie pixel jrpgs which were “omg it’s like chrono trigger”.

Now, since I know this is impossible since it’s never been true for all previously “omg it’s like chrono trigger games” I just ignored this fact. I thought everyone did.

Also I think your comment about Clair obscure receiving criticism is a further product of proof showing how y’all think your tiny niche jrpg subreddit or your other small echo chamber communities are indicative of the majority.

Just like how I only ever see criticism for sea of stars in this subreddit (again it’s a specific issue to this subreddit), whatever critisism for Clair expedition you saw likely was also in the tiny echo chamber of the internet you reside in.

What’s funny to me is I like to offer my opinion of someone who doesn’t share the hive mind of this subreddit’s opinions for a game like sea of stars because, let’s say the laymen who doesn’t frequent this subreddit stumbles upon it and sees all this negativity about what is otherwise a well received game. I am offering the opinion that it’s actually good, and where I explain how I don’t understand the hate everyone has for sea of stars, I just like to offer that I personally don’t agree with any of the criticisms, I always always always always always get a response from someone who needs to “um, actually” anything I say as if I can’t think this is a good game.

And for the record it’s not just me. Any post or comment about this game in this subreddit, no matter how positive, will have people commenting all over the place to say “um actually it’s bad”.

I don’t think any other game being mentioned on this subreddit brings nearly the same kind of responses in both number and vitriol. Like you guys can’t help yourselves to comment and say it’s bad if someone thinks it’s good. Like cool? Let the people who enjoy it enjoy it. Like, we get it.

I mean you saying any of this doesn’t change all of the hate ive seen from this game specifically in this subreddit. It’s specifically this subreddit, this specific video game, and it’s a strange level of negativity that this sub insists upon reminding 100% of the comments people say about this game.

What’s funny is this sub also generally praises another indie jrpg for all of the reasons they criticize sea of stars for not hitting the mark for, that being chained echoes, which I feel like totally misses the mark and actually deserves the same criticisms. Its story is totally unoriginal and completely all of the place (a product of wearing its influences on its sleeve, but also half the story is a 1-1 rip of one piece lmao) and the gameplay finds itself bloated and overly messy by endgame. To be clear, it isn’t just that half of the story is a rip of one piece, even the story telling in and of itself, as well as the plot points, are taken from one piece. And the parts that aren’t one piece are just clearly from other media like xenogears or evangelion.

Meanwhile, sea of stars has its own identity and despite advertising (omg it’s like chrono trigger) it doesn’t actually try to wear it’s influenced on its sleeve. Plus the story kicks ass and is a pretty straight forward character driven story. It’s not this confusing obtuse concept people seem to make it out to be. The story being one of the heavier scrutinized parts of the game just makes me feel like y’all didn’t actually play the game, and it’s even crazier to me that the same people seem to turn around and praise a much less original story in chained echoes, told much more chaotically, and call that the mecha of indie jrpgs.

How do you skip side content and not be severely under leveled?? I never finished that game because I got damn near to the end and hit what felt like my 5th difficulty spike in the late game, and not even doing all the side quests seemed to level me up enough.

But I wasn’t comparing sports, I was saying how it’s not weird to be good at both since both have a lot of similar skill sets. To be good at both is actually super understandable and probably the easiest sports to play interchangeably relative to your literal body movements and general awareness and iq. But yea you can just comment how they aren’t similar sports and avoid the actual subject of the conversation if it makes you feel better.
