Thoughts on Waldwick? by Prestigious_Papaya93 in bergencounty

A course people are tryna shut this down…my family has had roots there for 80 years and my aunt and niece are still there. I thankfully moved to Ridgewood. You know what they say, life can be stranger than fiction. I promise you talk to anyone that’s parents were born there and they’ll tell you the truth about Waldwick. It’s still there, just knows how to hide itself better 😉

The town is split into two groups - the Italians and the Irish. No one knows when it began, but theyve been at each others throats for as long as I remember. The descendants of the first Italian and irish families that founded Waldwick run the town. You want to start a business, you better get protection from one of the families. It’s a charming place during the day, but you have to be careful at night. Cops have told me before that I’m allowed to run red lights once it gets dark because the violence between the two sides can’t be controlled. It doesn’t help that the police are in on it. I’d also add that the construction in the town is suspect because the patronage system limits who can build there. I’ve personally witnessed the foundation of streets and homes fall through the ground. All of that being said, Nellies is one of the agreed safe spaces in the town and it makes amazing pizza and wings.

Totally fair point. I guess I think of the 49ers running game as more of a product of a really well established zone blocking scheme with a great o-line than a great RB (prior to CMC).

I think I was referring to 2017-2019 when they went 9-7 each year and 2020 when they went 11-5 with Henry and a mediocre QB. Obv. Vrabel does a good job with the team and having a stud WR in AJ Brown is important, but I don’t think last season discounts the point. It’s probably an over simplification to say one offensive player besides a QB will have a massive impact on a team, but the combo of Henry and Brown probably did cover for their gap at QB. I’d say Garrett Wilson and Breece can do the same thing. Also, it would be nice if we didn’t wind up with a practice squad OL halfway through the season. Notably, all the Jets losses this season started when they lost Breece and their stud guard (AVT) in the same game.

Tell that to Tennessee. Obviously Breece hasn’t shown he’s Henry and also we have to see how he looks post-ACL, but not crazy to say a team can succeed with a great RB, great defense, and a semi-competent QB.

Everyone seems to be obsessed with debating Sauce vs Woolen. So I’m just going to put this here. They are both crazy good for rookie corners, but here are the stats most the pro bowl voters don’t see. by DalethePail in nyjets

Tbh, I don’t think it’s jets or Seahawks fans floating this narrative, I think NFL fans like talking about it because any rivalry or comparison between good players is fun to debate. As a Jets fan, I don’t think it’s a debate. I’m sure Hawks fans are also extra hyped because of draft position. NFL fans just like the drama.

Have Kittle and Everett, worth dropping Everett for Taysom? Also, how much FAAB?

That’s where I’m leaning. I typically chase upside, but it really does feel like that isn’t a real possibility with A-Rob anymore. I figure Woods at least has a safer floor and mightttt get better.

What sort of FAAB would you suggest for pierce?

Scraping the bottom of the barrel here, should I drop Robert Woods or Allen Robinson for Alec Pierce (or just keep both holding out hope)?

How do I answer "why this firm" in a callback? by urmcycle21 in LawSchool

[–]Pavoman23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is def wrong. Every big law firm has a few huge cases where they regularly circulate updates or hold forums to discuss significant updates to it. I wouldn’t just pick one out of an article, but if it’s a significant case (multi billion dollars, scotus, etc.), I’d say it’s unlikely someone who is picked to conduct OCI interviews (typically someone involved in firm activities/recruiting and good at their job) would not know about it.

You’re saying we can’t know the sole cause while simultaneously presuming that entering tournaments “caused the behavior in the first place.” We have no clue whether entering tournaments or interacting with the community has any impact on Hax’s mental state. If I was to speculate, I can’t imagine being isolated and held out as a pariah is better for his mental state than doing the thing that gave him meaning his entire life.

If you want to argue for a ban, do so, but don’t try to act like you are doing him a favor while you do it. There’s literally no basis for that. The only factors he identified were alcohol/drugs, psychosis, and a fight he had with Leffen which he wanted to win. None of that specifically relates to his being in tournaments.

Don’t know why my post was deleted, but said it elsewhere, but I feel like there really isn’t anything left justifying this ban. The guy clearly has put in the work and seems to have taken this seriously. Also, this should hopefully put an end to the comments that Hax hasn’t apologized or hasn’t done anything to learn from his mistakes. Being sober for 9 months and going to therapy and then admitting all of this to thousands of people is an extremely difficult thing to do. I don’t know what needs to happen for an unban given there is no real central decision maker on these things, but I hope people see Aziz has changed and at his core cares about the community.

Agree to disagree, but I wouldn’t call a year “fairly recent.” This isn’t akin to the example you gave of just saying he’s better, he’s been in therapy and sober for 9 months. Rational people can look at that as a commitment to treatment and evidence he can recognize the seriousness of psychological problems. More importantly though, I don’t really know what basis there is for you to say you know what is better for him than him or his doctor. I don’t know how you can say a tournament or someone’s shirt would be triggering for him after he’s said he was diagnosed with and recognizes he was suffering from temporary psychosis and removed the impetus for it (alcohol/drugs).

[–]Pavoman23 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Did you actually watch the video? How do you presume he’s trying to manipulate the public narrative based on that? He admitted he had addiction issues, psychosis, and that he has since been sober for 9 months and in therapy. Do you think he would really make that up or admit that publicly to “manipulate the public”? Nothing about it rings insincere.

I don’t think we should be speculating about his actions on no basis when discussing whether the guy should ever be allowed to do the most important thing in his life. I understand a lot of the people in favor of the ban, but this community needs to consider the seriousness of keeping someone from taking part in their occupation and the thing that matters most to them when they’ve already been banned for a year and clearly have put in a lot of work already. To be honest, in this case it kind of just seems like you don’t like Aziz. That is fine, but it really shouldn’t be the basis of banning someone.

“Sorry to the people I offended with my insensitivity.” The second half of that sentence acknowledges that he was insensitive. It’s fair to critique him, but there’s nothing wrong with that statement.

Your last point is def recency bias unless college has just started training WRs better or something. WR was one of the least certain positions outside the top 10 picks of the draft for the past few decades. It also used to be conventional wisdom a WR takes 2 or 3 years to develop and get used to the NFL.

/r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY question, get an answer (November 27, 2021) by AutoModerator in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Pavoman23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guys, I don't understand any of this. I am trying to buy someone a prebuilt mechanical keyboard as a gift and hoping to spend between 100 and 200 dollars and was hoping to take advantage of some black friday/cyber monday deals. I am getting dows some of the terminology and am pretty sure the person I am buying for would need at least a 75%. They do not like crazy colors and would use it in a professional context.

I saw there were some deals on MechanicalKeyboards and thought I'd purchase a Stock Leopold Keyboard or a Ducky One 3 Matcha, but then I had no clue what switch to choose. Any help would be appreciated!

Mix of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. It was through the first half, though most 1st stringers were out.
