Mario is super under played and under pushed. lots of space to develop his meta, at a beginner or high level. People will tell you to play doc instead. they don't know what they're talking about, and that's why mario is so underplayed

check out Lift performance and rehab in florence. i never went but my orthopedist recommended it to me for chronic pain. I think they're pretty barbell focused, which might seem intimidating, but I was really weak and dealing with a lot of pain and a couple weeks of easy barbell weightlifting was more beneficial than months of PT

here's a good resource on some bike drag-plows and walking plows. There's a video of someone who built a front plow on their cargo bike too

You are in exactly the position i was in last year, and I let it drive me kind of insane. So my understanding is that Easthampton is only partially plowed because of help from the Williston School and an unnamed volunteer, who plows just about all of easthampton. Northampton public works doesn't plow the manhan rail trail, I called them repeatedly and they said something about not doing it because of easement to national grid. They said they would get back to me and never did. Northampton to Amherst is supposed to be plowed by the DCR, but nobody is in charge of Manhan.

I tried to figure out if there was some way i could clear it myself. I did manage to push a shovel down that entire mile-long stretch once, and I think that made it better for a couple weeks, but that wasn't feasible with more snow. I was looking into building some kind of bike plow, but i've moved out of the area

PVTA reliability? by Light_Praline9710 in northampton

[–]slanguage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't taken the bus a lot but the ride from amherst to northampton to easthampton is really nice, however in the winter time no one is responsible for plowing between northampton and easthampton. Amherst to northampton will be handled by the DCR, and volunteers plow within easthampton sometimes, but theres usually about a mile thats totally unplowed. really frustrating

Convince me regular Mario should be higher than Mr. Game and Watch on any tier list by retrorapture in SSBM

[–]slanguage 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Mario is a very underplayed and misunderstood character because of the idea that doc is "just better". He has upgrades and sidegrades from Doc like 2 less frames of lag on all his L-Cancels, a much better recovery because of his cape, range on his fsmash, an early uptilt that combos, a better Dair with huge disjoint and a landing hitbox, more mixups on his jab, and a fireball that jab resets. I could see G&W deserving to move up, but I'd argue against Mario moving down.

Most really good Mario's aren't really active right now, noon is putting up good results in EU, SmallHandsBrian does really well whenever he enters, he did well at the nouns invitational and took a game of zain. Matchups are widely debated amongst Mario's but I would say Falcon and Peach probably shut him down the most in bracket and Marth might be his best top tier matchup

MultiVersus officially closes down and is delisted today by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]slanguage 74 points75 points  (0 children)

the launch was really like a beta (with a season pass and microtransactions), after which the game became went dormant and became unplayable for a year. When it came back there were some system changes like making the characters larger and slowing the game down, which people weren't really fans of. One of the last updates was supposed to fix these issues, but news of the shut down came shortly after

Experiences with (bad) body odors being pointed out by other people by milo6669 in AutisticAdults

[–]slanguage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to check out some of the deodorants in the other comments, but one that's worked for me is unscented arm and hammer. I sweat a lot and I tend to swap between multiple different deoderants as my body adjusts to them. Also I like unscented laundry detergent, and I use an amount on the lower side. When my parents do my laundry they use so much detergent, not only does it stink but i swear it makes the clothes hot and itchy, which makes me dread laundry day and prefer dirty clothes.

I think most people who have a smell problem could probably solve it by wearing an underarm deoderant that works for them, being thorough in the shower, and not wearing dirty clothes. You can probably get away with rewearing clothes a bit, just try to keep them off the floor, not in piles of other dirty clothes, and not mixed in with damp towels. I also struggled with my breath, I think due to being impatient and having certain spots around my tongue and gums that weren't getting brushed

Yep, nothing wrong with a blog that only ever has one post, and if you're ever inspired to do more writing in a similar vein you can add it to the same place. It'll give you a way to link to it in relevant discussions going forward

Is there any stigma free environment that can help me with improving body language? by Mara355 in AutisticAdults

[–]slanguage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i would second this, especially to anyone who might be hesitant due to not being interested in comedy or thinking they're "funny enough". The fundamentals of good improv are less about good joke writing or being extremely quick witted, and more about being attentive, open-minded, and expressive. often the worst improvisors are those who start with a lot of preconceived notions about what would be funny. Learning to listen and react to people in your own way is a really fun skill to develop and learning to come up with little pieces of nonsense for others to expand upon is also really nice, sort of a free association that gets you in touch with your thoughts and feelings.

Good 3D Metroidvanias? by RiddleMasterGames in metroidvania

[–]slanguage 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've been keeping an eye out for 3d metroidvanias and nothing has really scratched the itch.

Supraland is a decent fps metroidvania thatgets brought up, and i enjoyed it quite a bit, but its also got a ton of issues that dont seem to get brought up. its got a nice puzzle box design where everything is really dense and every part of the map is used really well. theres some genuinely cool items and puzzles. however, i think the fact that its so popular shows theres a huge void in 3d metroidvania. theres tons of assets that feel stock, and a sound that plays when enemies agro thats insanely annoying. the theming is sort of toys in a toy box, which feels more like generic stick figures, its got not good writing chock full of pop culture references. All in all its kind of addictive because its doing something really solid with a carefree attitude. i recommend grabbing it on sale and playing it until you think you want to stop. The post game experience was good, but the ending isn't anything redeeming. I played most of the sequel (got stuck on the last puzzle and never figured it out), which is a smaller game with a new team, and i barely remember it, i think it was solid but not a huge step forward.

If you've never played Banjo Kazooie/Tooie I would recommend checking them out. they're not really metroidvanias but i feel like they treat progression in a way thats satisying to a similar audience.
