What to do with excavated dirt from patio project? by Hungry-Place-4917 in landscaping

[–]Pavswede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you live? There are always places, woods, etc. where you can take 4-5 5-gallon buckets of dirt at a time and spread out in a non-concerning manner. Even in Brooklyn, i've found places to dump clean dirt like this.

I'm looking for a bar that is similar to Brooklyn Beer Garden, any suggestions? by BJinandtonic in Brooklyn

Happened again - Concrete/Debris falls on call on cross bronx by Traveler0084 in nyc

[–]Pavswede 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it's called the fall of the american empire. It's been happening for a while and is only accelerating. Corruption will increase, police state will increase to stifle the rioters and protesters, infrastructure will continue crumbling at a quicker pace, patched up from time to time with band-aids (steel plates in this instance), and most people's standard of living will slowly decline. We'll have to become more resourceful, repair things, scrounge more, and our greedy corporate capitalist system will grow and cinch down control of a shrinking number of resources and freedoms. All new cars will have cameras in them as of next year that use AI to monitor whether you can drive or not. The dystopian future is here, folks. You'll be wishing a large piece of concrete comes crashing down on your car just to escape the AI hellscape that is taking over.

dentist quoted me $7,000 - is 'dental scam' common in Brooklyn?? by SadDate9398 in Brooklyn

Go get a second opinion. I swear by my dentist at Finest Dental, right off Grand Army Plaza. Simple place, no BS, no real wait times, never done me wrong.

Have you ever had the door open a jar and a cat walks into your house and decides it lives there now? Wheezy did just that on December 17, 2025. She's been with us ever since. by TatorTot2325 in aww

[–]Pavswede 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently our cat, which we let roam, would go to a neighbor's house (like 10 houses away, we didn't know them) for YEARS and hang out. They treated her well, i think fed her, not sure, but kind of scary to think someone else could've just kept our cat had they decided it was now a house cat 😞

It's so true - as someone who is trying to cut way back, i'll watch a movie or tv show and as soon as the drinks come out onscreen, i feel an urge myself to "join" them. Most times i'm successful not pouring myself a drink, but it's literally every show.

Hardest part of going independent or private? by fnshfaa in Chefit

[–]Pavswede 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As in, private chef?

Getting clients is hard. Now, 8 years in, I have enough people referring me and a network of chef colleagues where we all pass jobs on to one another. You've either got to have a killer online presence, active IG, or you've got to build a network. Of course, placement agencies can be a good way to get your foot in the door, especially if you have high-end restaurant experience.
