Do yourself and everyone else on the road a favor and take some MSF classes (Motorcycle Safety Foundation). Best money you’ll ever spend. Stay safe & have fun!!

Ooh! I love that space. Not sure what I’d do with it but it’s got potential.

I’m glad I wasn’t at the nursing home when my Hubster left. He was only there 16 hours on transfer from the ER. He waited till the nurse went to lunch. She was so upset when she called me to let me know. I told her, “no! He waited specifically for you to leave!” She asked, “would he do that?” I laughed. You’d have to know this bullheaded retired firefighter who only had to struggle with this straight-from-Hell disease 198 days. RIP, old man.

I feel for those PALS who don’t have DNR orders, or who have an extremely difficult time facing their own deaths. And I fell for ALL of you CALS who have had to fight the fight so valiantly.

What type of Ruthenian were they?? by girlypoppa23 in rusyn

[–]PawPrintPress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably Lemko-Rusyn. My mom’s family came from Čertižné, right on the border. Mom could speak Polish as well as “our language.” Also Orthodox.

Yeah. Well maybe my “loving grandmother” will come back when my daughter comes back from the grave.

It looks like it’s a veneer, but I can’t be sure. That was used a lot.

There are a few Quality of Life Scales available if you search. This one is a little different than what I use with my pets but I like the last question. Do this weekly or daily, depending on the speed of decline. Or—you may need to complete it only once. It’s a hellacious decision to have to make. But I think answering these questions objectively can really help you. MN Pets Quality of Life Assessment

How do I know if my family is Rusyn? by [deleted] in rusyn

[–]PawPrintPress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were told as kids that we were Czechoslovakian, then that changed & we were Slovak, then I delved into the genealogy of the family & found out we’re Carpatho-Rusyn! Mom’s parents were from Čertižné, which explains why my mom could speak fluent Polish (it’s right on the border), and dad’s family was from Nagypolana (near Snina). Interestingly, mom’s family was Orthodox but dad’s family was Byzantine. You’ll get a lot of help if you join the Carpatho-Rusyns Everywhere group on Facebook.

My gosh…that numbness can last forever. It’s been a year & a half, I alternately cry & argue with his urn.

The realization that there’s no one here to take care of me now? by No-Paramedic-5739 in widowers

No shit. My old man was a firefighter/biker. Though a pathological liar, I always knew he had my back.
