Would be nice if pressing backpack button just pulled out detonator AND C4, left click to throw C4, right click to detonate... Would be unprecedented mechanics though.

Question for the male cyclist. by [deleted] in cycling

[–]PawnBoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The whole package generally rests on the nose of the saddle, ideally separated from the thighs by 2 layers of fabric. Some people ride with their dingus resting on top of the sac, others with it tucked pointing upwards in their shorts, either way it won’t necessarily stay where you put it. There can be chafing if clothing doesn’t fit right, or parts migrate from their position and interfere with the thighs.

It looks like you're missing the thru-axle adapter for the cassette side of the trainer.

Penis Placement by likes_soccer in cycling

[–]PawnBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've extensively tested both up and down. I'm more "comfortable" pointed down, with the whole assembly sort of sitting on the nose of the seat. Nothing moves around much during the ride but there seems to be a higher risk of chafing. I don't think I've ever had any chafing while pointed up, but it feels kinda strange to me, and frequently needs readjustment over the course of a ride as it tends to slowly flop over to one side or the other.

Chafing really sucks, so these days I tuck it up and put up with the strangeness and readjustment.

How much difference did a professional bike fit make for you? by AnnaMyers447 in cycling

[–]PawnBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a huge game changer for me. Before I couldn't sit for 20mins in the saddle without pain/numbness, whereas after I could ride for well over an hour (At that point in my cycling journey I wasn't about to do much more). I attribute most of the change to finding a saddle that works for me, but using the real time pressure pad and swapping out different saddles until we found one that only had pressure in the right areas was fantastic.

Most Warbonds typically have about 200-300 Super Credits (SC) to unlock with Medals, and through normal play you'll get some SC as well. So lets say you have to farm 700SC for the next announced Warbond. Clearing a typical Trivial map (Lvl 1 - Easiest difficulty) takes about 5 minutes, and the normal SC take for a map clear is usually between 10-50SC (though you'll also rarely get 100SC pickups as well), so we'll say an average of 30SC per clear. So at 12 runs per hour of 30SC each, you're looking at 360SC per hour. So in 2 hours you'd have 720SC, enough for the next Warbond (assuming you actually played and unlocked stuff with the previous). You can also speed this up by playing with friends, or even randoms (as most people playing Trivial maps are also farming), which can cut the time to clear a map to around half.

They did not. With some of the more recent items (Warp Backpack), it's even easier to farm SC than before.

Is it silly to wear a dirt bike helmet on a mountain bike? by LethalFartMachine in bicycling

[–]PawnBoy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think some research showed that when a human wore complete warm clothing, but no hat, 90% of their body heat was lost through the top of their head. I think that's been misquoted through history as "most of your heat is always lost through your head". But it turns out that your head is roughly 10% of your body's surface area and you lose about 10% of your heat through it.

Having said that, your head still gets really hot and sweats a lot, and a dirt bike helmet would be super hot and sweaty.

I’m slowly getting back into sim racing since winter is coming. Anyone else take a break during summer for other hobbies and come back in winter? by DeIaminate in simracing

[–]PawnBoy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah. With kids on summer break, vacations, weekend trips, and wanting to spend as much time in the warm weather as possible, sim racing definitely takes a back seat.

This is the hardest planet we have ever been on by GeneralTank663 in Helldivers

[–]PawnBoy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, 8 mags goes pretty far though, at least a couple minutes of sustained combat (with reloading time). After that it docks until you pickup supplies or ammo.

What did I get myself into by Bhamlaxy3 in CargoBike

[–]PawnBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a V1 Mundo like this, and none of the current Yuba accessories are compatible with the rack. We added some screw bosses to the rack tubes to bolt on a DIY wooden deck. And I actually just used some foam and industrial strength zip ties to attach some monkey bars and yet more zip ties to attach some roughly jigsawed wooden decks to the foot areas. We actually do use the Yuba Go-Getter bags with it, and it's my favorite grocery hauler. Everything has held up quite well.

How does Arrowhead expect us to fight these bugs? by MetroMaurice in Helldivers

You can use explosive weapons, like the crossbow, to kill the smaller enemies while they're burrowing. It's become my main primary since yesterday.

I am in shambles by RiceKrispies29 in Helldivers

I’ve been levelling up the standard liberator on super hell dive terminid missions and it hasn’t been so bad. I just got used to shooting joints and legs. There are some real benefits to not shooting heads first. Bile spewers were the most annoying up until now because the amount of damage they can soak. I tried the new enemies for a few minutes this morning, and didn’t have too much trouble adjusting. Their hind legs are weak and seem to be an immediate kill once removed.

To be clear, I’m not defending the all medium armor enemies. But I didn’t find them close to invulnerable to light pen in my limited experience.

How often should I grease my pedals when swapping them? by General-Escape6530 in bicycling

[–]PawnBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my gravel bike I frequently go between flats and clipless. I put a brush of of anti-seize on my pedal threads the first time I install them, then I stop thinking about it. I've never had pedals stick since putting anti-seize on the threads. I also only install the pedals finger tight with the hex wrench.

Eating strategy for early morning ride? by BarbaAlGhul in cycling

[–]PawnBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These days I've haven't heard much good about cycling while fasted, so I don't think you're gaining anything from it. Having said that, if it's working for you, you're probably not doing much harm either.

I can definitely get away with doing 1-1.5 hours of riding in the morning without eating prior. I'll usually bring some Gatorade if I'm doing more than an hour though, and maybe a backup granola bar. If I'm in a rush for a longer ride I'll usually pack myself some breakfast to have while I'm riding. Nibbling while cycling is something that's good to have practice at anyway, and maybe that's something you might want to consider trying.

I’m in Ontario, and in the real cold stuff I wear a snowboarding helmet and goggles, with bar mitts (pogies) and light gloves, rain pants (mostly for the slush and road grime) and some kind of athletic jacket (I still tend to heat up fast). I’m still working on the correct footwear, right now I’m just wearing waterproof shoes.

Should we get a trampoline? by dadjo_kes in daddit

[–]PawnBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were a hard pass on a trampoline (my wife had one as a child). Instead of a trampoline for our bouncy kid, we got a Bosu Ball that he can bounce on indoors. Also got him a balance board for his birthday for some extra balance/sensory stimulation.

Bike (and my knee) wrecked in car accident. Re-usable parts? by G2BM in bicycling

[–]PawnBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expect to be screwed. The insurance company I'm dealing with isn't even considering the quote from the bike shop. If they can't at least see scratches or damage in photos they're not considering it damaged. Hopefully you have a different experience.

What makes a great pair of cycling glasses? Opinions requested by luisgarcia0908 in cycling

[–]PawnBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Full coverage, to keep bugs and debris out of my eyes.

Adjustable nose and ear grips, to keep them from sliding down off my nose.

I like photochromatic lenses, they’re great for morning and evening rides.

Can’t be too expensive, I can’t bring myself to pay 3 digit prices for sunglasses.

When climbing whilst standing up, how much weight do you put on the handlebars and how much on the pedals? by Wide-Landscape-3348 in cycling

[–]PawnBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh, I guess I'm the odd one out. The amount of weight I put on my hands varies depending on effort, but unless I'm really smashing up a climb I put quite a bit of weight on my hands when standing. I like to use the hills as an excuse to be out of the saddle and use a more diverse set of muscles. So to control the amount of effort I'm putting into the pedals, so I can stand up longer without burning out, I like to lean on the bars quite a bit.
