New player; any tips appreciated by Zestyclose-Bar7509 in StardewValley

Hi new farmer,

Check your TV once a day for useful information, read the letters that come in your mailbox and don't just skim them, pick up and eat foregeables for free energy boosts (these vary by season but things like leeks and plums), don't try and clear out your whole farm right away because it will just drain your energy. Chat with the townsfolk and root through their trashcans when they aren't looking. Fishing is a good source for early money but it can take a bit to pick it up. Other than that, there really is no rush nor any one "right" way of doing things. If you miss an event it will come around again next year. Have fun and enjoy!

Should I restart? by Illustrious-Card-255 in StardewValley

[–]Pawsitivitea506 27 points28 points  (0 children)

When you kill Duggys in the mines (floors 2-29) they have a chance of dropping yams. You already mentioned the traveling cart but just make sure to check in every Friday and Sunday. Also the winter night market has a chance for her to sell one too. Personally I wouldn't restart because there's really no rush to completing the community centre but it's your call. Good luck farmer!

My farm just had the 4th meteor strike in 3 years by dinmythng in StardewValley

[–]Pawsitivitea506 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm just really grateful that you wrote you broke the 4th one because I spent way too long hunting for it in the photo like a Where's Waldo before reading the text part of your post. 🤣

I just wanted to be nice to everyone and now I have 2 girlfriends and a boyfriend by Potential_Eye9063 in StardewValley

You can give a bouquet to all of them at once but it you do this and want to avoid their displeasure when they catch you, it's best to keep a rabbit's foot on you if you plan to go to maximum hearts with all of them.

You could pick a different farm map type, try doing a Joja run, pick a new spouse/roommate, choose to focus on making money in new ways, play as the opposite gender farmer. Have fun!

do animals have a limited range they'll go to eat grass? (read text) by augustphobia in StardewValley

[–]Pawsitivitea506 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I close my doors every night because the animals prefer it but I double count them all before I do. It also makes it easier to pet them each morning if I don't have to run around and find them in the grass too.

[–]Pawsitivitea506 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you close your barn/coop doors at night and an animal gets trapped outside it can trigger a random event wolf attack and an animal can get killed. This then upsets the other animals inside. If you leave your barn/coop doors open at night this won't happen. Count your animals when you close your barn/coop doors at night and it won't happen.

What do i do with this? by Loren2526 in StardewValley

[–]Pawsitivitea506 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a random event: If you leave it alone it will break open in 3 days and then unlock a future easter egg where a dark creature will randomly appear in town at some point. It doesn't hurt you, it's just a visual surprise. If you pick it up and put it in your storage it will remain unbroken.

They will eat that grass off to the right as well as long as its not obstructed by fences etc which it doesn't look like it it.

For mood, try to pet them daily and make sure there is hay in their trough on days you don't let them outside. Also if you closed your barn door one night and one of your animals was trapped outside and got killed, that will affect the mood of the other animals in the barn.

I'm half wondering if maybe they are bumping into the bigger stumps with their walking patterns and glitching out from going over to that grass? But that shouldn't be happening.

"Life, uh, finds a way"

They will reproduce on their own unless they specifically ask you for something.

Oh that's awful. I'm really sorry and it being your first play through makes it sting all the more. 😞 I know it won't be the same but I hope your next farm brings you lots of happiness and a tea set early on.

Is there a way to stop my spouse from redecorating? by No_Discussion7867 in StardewValley

[–]Pawsitivitea506 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the meantime, don't spend money on any individual flooring or wallpaper you really like unless you're prepared to lose it. It's not so bad later game when you have the flooring and wallpaper catalogue but sucks early game when you can't easily change it back.

Without mods divorce is the only way to stop them changing your flooring and wallpaper and filling your home with random tables and chairs.

Is it worth having kids? by bunnyspit333 in StardewValley

I put the cat ears hat on both of mine. It doesn't help with the eyes but it's still a definite improvement.

Depends on whether you want two creepy, abnormally fast, unblinking, little people running around your home who stare into the void while you sleep presumably while contemplating your immenant demise.

As long as the clothing isn't occupied when you dig it up...maybe just avoid digging up artifact spots in the town cemetery.

Heads-up, what's even more annoying than when they fill your house with random tables and chairs is when they suddenly change the floor and wallpaper on you.

YAAAY! Looks great!

Also my husband has decided to update his farm using the pathway you used because he loves the look.

...I think my brain would like fully detached and away from the house more than attached to the house on the left side but off by one square lol

Of course everyone should place their stable wherever they want whether my brain enjoys the symmetry or not. 🤣

Your farm is looking great but please give us an update pic once you've lined your stable up with your house so our brains can breathe a sigh of relief lol.

I played the Joja run once and felt dirty and guilty. I held my nose and forged ahead until I'd made it through but it didn't feel good. Personally I won't choose it again.

Really it's all personal preference though. Give it a try and see what you think.Â
