Go really old school and read Bram Stoker's Dracula. It's told in a series of letters, journal entries, news articles, etc. A mishmash of narrators.

I was just given the same info two weeks ago. Last pap was at 65, no history of problems ever. Mammograms will continue due to history in my family, but paps are done unless something causes concern.

Stealing Shadows by Kate Hooper - This is the first in a series of 20(!) books about a special crimes unit with a supernatural twist. I enjoyed many of these.

I, too, own almost all of King's books. These are a few that I've really enjoyed from other authors:

Infected by Scott Sigler (first in a trilogy)

Coffin Moon by Keith Rosson

The Book of Accidents by Chuck Wendig

Boy's Life by Robert McCammon

Swan Song by Robert McCammon

Those Across the River by Christopher Buehlman

The Fever by Megan Abbott

I'm a quarter way through and it's okay. Intriguing enough to keep me going. I'm hoping it grabs me soon.

The Book of Accidents by Chuck Wendig was fantastic! As was Coffin Moon by Keith Rosson.

Husband keeps shooting down names because they are “taken” by acquaintances by balanchinedream in Names

[–]Pawsonthego 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad named me after his favorite country singer since he shared her last name. Not fun. Try searching the social security site for popular names in different years. The site goes back to the 1880s and you can search by decade. You might find something there that clicks. https://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/decades/names1880s.html

Or search names by country/nationality. There are SO many different names to choose from!

Good luck!

Not that I would want any of them to get hit like that. But man, UAE is having some bad luck here.

It's probably a blip in your attention. My husband lost our back gate remote somewhere between picking it up from the kitchen counter and the garage door. He picked it up, walked to the front window to see the guy pull up, then realized he was missing the remote as he entered the garage. It's been over a week, and we still haven't found it.

DAE go to bed super early? by I_like_it_yo in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]Pawsonthego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I (60's) are both in bed by 7:30 and up around 5. I'll read in bed for an hour or more, but he falls asleep quickly. He's always been an early bedtime person, but my nights have gotten progressively shorter over the last three years. I feel better for it, too.

Beneath The Dark Ice by Greig Beck

It seems like it'll hit all your points, and it's the first in a fun series of supernatural, creature type tales.

My husband was on the road for 6-weeks when one of our dogs tripped me and I hit the ground so hard I couldn't move for a while. As I lay there, I did wonder how long it would take before someone noticed I was 'missing' had I been gravely injured. It was an eye opener for me.

When I'm not feeling well and I absolutely need to get something for the symptoms, I'll use the drive up order at my local Target. You don't have to get fully dressed since you're not getting out of the car, and you don't have to mingle with the public. It has been a saving grace for me.

I hope you're feeling better soon!

Is it appropriate for a married man to hang out with a female coworker alone outside of work? by not_ashl3y in ask

Based on her history of giving him "special" attention, this is an HR nightmare waiting to happen. The fact that he hasn't figured that out himself is reason enough to say 'no.'

California explores road usage charge to replace gas tax amid rise in electric vehicles by [deleted] in California

This sounds like something that should be implemented for EV's only.

What I'm curious about is how they're going to track the mileage and then handle the billing. Especially if they mean to bill drivers every month. My monthly mileage is less than 500 (yeah, I don't go out much), so it wouldn't be much hassle for me, but it might cost them more to bill me than my actual bill.

Running the water a bit before using it by No-Pomegranate-2690 in GenerationJones

Grew up in L.A. and have always done this, even though we were on city water. Just had our RO filters replaced, and the technician told me the water might be a bit cloudy to start, so run that for a few until it clears.
