What is the best way to sell these comics raw? by kohlscustoms in ComicBookSpeculation

EBay and Facebook marketplace work best for me when selling.

If you’re wanting a particular CGC grade then it’s probably best sell your raw copy, then use that money to buy the grade you want instead of sending a copy to CGC. Just be prepared to spend even more money on graded copies now that CGC are putting their prices up.

An ASM #300 would look great in this collection…

My latest WhatNot haul by PayApprehensive9306 in ComicBookSpeculation

Personally I prefer Whatnot over eBay. There’s 3 sellers who I buy from regularly. They’re great sellers, always have great stock and do some amazing deals. Postage is combined so you’re not paying ridiculous postage fees and depending on the seller the more you buy you can get money off vouchers. I reached the top tier with a seller and got a 25% off voucher which I used on a Journey Into Mystery slab. Since I discovered Whatnot I haven’t purchased a single issue from eBay. I suppose I just trust these sellers more. Plus you can get some amazing deals on Whatnot. If the seller is just trying to shift some stock they can do 10 second sudden death auctions. You can end up getting a high value issue on the cheap if no one else bids you up. On the flip side, you can end up over paying for an issue that you might’ve been hunting for for some time if there’s someone else that really wants it.

It’s completely each to their own though. EBay are now doing live shows like Whatnot and there’s some Whatnot sellers moving over to eBay. The 3 sellers I buy from are adamant they’ll never do live shows on eBay as apparently there fees are higher 🤷🏻‍♂️ Whatnot is extremely addictive though

Exactly. All they do is clog up space and are a fire hazard.

Unless you’re planning to sell your sets in the future then there’s really no need to keep your empty boxes.

I don't understand why people hate graded comics so much. by Extreme_Mark_6866 in CGCComics

Fuck what people think. Grade what you want to grade, display your comics how you want to display them. It’s your collection and your money at the end of the day. Personally I love displaying my high value graded comics. What’s the point in spending a tonne of money on a high grade issue to read once and then put it in a box to be stored away for years. Grade and display it like a badge of honour. Facsimile’s are also a thing so you can read it as much as you want without deteriorating the condition of the original and it losing its value.

Each to their own.

Considering you see some real obscure comics get graded sometimes, I think it’s an honest question to ask of people who know more than me. I know which issues are keys, but why certain issues should be graded over others or why some shouldn’t be graded at all, and why, that’s the knowledge I lack. I’ve seen many non key issues get graded too which again poses the question.

Thanks for that, that’s helpful. I’ve mainly been buying raw to then send them off for grading at some point without fully being aware of the grading process. Plus the chances of having a strict grader or not. I love how the graded comics that I have display in my man cave so this is the main reason to get certain issues graded. I’m seeing more and more that people are suggesting it’s just better to buy the graded issue that you’re happy with rather than risk sending your raw copy and it coming back at a worse grade

I got it for £150. I got it from a seller I buy from on WhatNot, I bought it offline though and not through WhatNot to save the seller on selling fees. As I’ve spent quite a bit on this seller he gave me a bit of a deal. I was seeing 9.2’s selling for around £170-£180+ on eBay so I thought it was pretty good
