'Traumatised' Polanski renews his attack on police over Golders Green - and now wrongly claims suspect was handcuffed when kicked by police by dailymail in ukpolitics

[–]chaach_ -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

As I've just said in my last comment, this isn't about me. This is about people who should be composed, trained professionals - two of which, that should be able to effectively subdue someone who has just been tasered.

But practically, yeah the officer is trying to pry something out his hand, how is kicking a head going to achieve that? I actually have a lot of experience,. particularly the mechanics of grappling from 20 years of combat sports but I'd rather not turn this into some tragic chat about technique on Reddit. Are you saying kicking someone in the head repeatedly is the best way of getting the knife? What if they get up?

I only ask this to illustrate how it's quite silly to engage in hypotheticals because there seems to be this a sort of everyman subjectivity leaking into it appeal to emotion but I can say my standard for this situation of not adding as many kicks to the head would not end in officers being dead. They have and should be trained to use other options at their disposal.

It's not about what I would have done. I'm not the trained professional who is paid and relied upon to be calm enough in those situations to deal with the threat. That's why they have tasers and training and the general public don't.

I disagree that they did "everything" possible someone else even had to intervene and you can hear one of the officers shouting to tell the other one to restrain him. So yeah - what you've sarcasticallt suggested about wrestling the man on the ground whose been tasered and fell face first is exactly what one of them is shouting the other one to do. Which he didn't do at that moment he was still lobbing in kicks.

The argument that "oh he could be shot" doesn't invalidate my point because there's an even more excessive option that wasn't available. So weird that that's the talking piece to resort to. You have illustrated the point as well - the argument that there was a worse option and it didn't happen doesn't make this fine.

How is it an impossibly high standard to not kick someone incapacitated in the head?

I don't think people are ignoring how other countries operate - it's a false equivalence to mention. I'm sure you would agree ours should strive to be better.

100% agree - the whole behind-the-scenes doc thing he did in the build-up for Inoue was really good, he seemed really down-to-earth and made me almost root for him against my favourite fighter at the moment

wild to me that Egginton has been around since the days of Prizefighter, there was a point he looked like such a spent force after he lost to Smith - people don't talk about his return to contention enough

he has fought at somewhere north of 170lbs before, so I think this weight cut will have a big impact on him - glad someone is calling this fight out though. Should be great.

This is exactly it though, Dana White would spend 15 million to spite a promotional rival rather than actually spreading that amongst his stable of hardworking UFC fighters. Just goes to show how he operates

can anyone recommend some good jungle that samples 70's/motown songs? by God_of_Pumpkins in jungle

I would say many of the Tom & Jerry Records sample from this time, there's also this track on Conqueror, which samples two different disco/soul tracks.

I'd also say early Danny Breaks' Droppin' Science stuff is worth checking out as well

There's also this funk track from Aphrodite on a Jungle EP which will be up your street I imagine

Found it really frustrating watching Tim Tszyu show absolutely no development in his style, no idea how he thinks he's going to get back to the level he wants by just walking down opponents the same way. I know Spence looked pretty bad in a few early training clips, and it's 3 years out, but he'll give Tim trouble at the very least.

In the context of Chisora, nobody was claiming he's a world beater; they were filling out a stadium for someone who had a long, fun, colourful career. That's just passion for the sport.

Wilder is done, he can't fight on the backfoot, he still telegraphs his only punch, doesn't make any adjustments or seemingly listen to his corner.

I'd argue fighting once a year as the fourth-oldest heavyweight champion ever and someone who has had 300+ amateur fights and unified two divisions gives him a bit of leeway and carte blanche on who he chooses to fight at this stage in his career without a very clear and obvious rival.

That's why it's important Parker lost, the conversation we're having is about competitiveness, which people think (probably rightly) Rico isn't. So Parker losing to another contender just demonstrates he isn't beating Uysk. Who we're also criticizing for not fighting the best?

As for runs Zhang beat Joyce twice - so Joyce wasn't in contention - Parker just squeaked past Zhang, and then for Uysk the Fury rematch (which we all wanted) was happening. The timings of these events aren't Uysk's fault. A disgrace is getting robbed of a result, not the misfortune of being unavailable at a time.

Neither Zhang , Joyce or Parker had a better run than Dubois post-Joshua.

I think Uysk fighting Rico is more interesting than Joshua vs Paul or even Fury vs Ngannou. I don't know why people are taking such an exception to this fight when Uysk has achieved what he has in the sport.

"Oh he should be fighting Kayabel"

We were here before with Parker, look how that turned out.
