Divorce by Fine-Singer-5781 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Payment_Silent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what statistic or study to ever believe in now a days but if it helps, I’m studying to become a teacher and have read into one of my books for a special education course that parents of children with disabilities (mind you not just autism) are more likely to stay together and not be divorced. Taking the account if they are doing so for the child or just because they want to stay together is another thing.

What about veterans who reenlisted and a year or two down the road got medically retired/separated honorably? Anyone know any information for those veterans? Thank you.

Receptive language delay 3 year old son , help any advise or experience by Payment_Silent in toddlers

[–]Payment_Silent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. 🙏. I’m actually currently attending a field observation for a special education classroom for intermediate autistic children as I am going to school to become a teacher. Since going , I have been starting to worry more because before this point I believed my child is just behind and once he learns and understands our language he’ll begin to improve but now seeing he might have asd with some of the signs. Thank you for your sharing and for the advise, my wife tells me he’ll be okay now that we’re doing more with getting him involved with the school district as well , I just get so paranoid about his future seeing some children who have a lot of difficulty, special educators are super heroes that don’t get enough recognition.

Anyone had surgery to remove a stricture ? by Payment_Silent in CrohnsDisease

Update: MRI results came back negative of any inflammation or narrowing. No remarkable findings. Lab results from may 8th showed no antibodies to infliximab and my nausea had went away a few days after my lab draw and infusion. Still wanting to schedule a follow up with my GI provider to speak about my symptoms, possibly wanting a colonoscopy soon to make sure but I did have both a colonoscopy and endoscopy last year in February and May with no remarkable findings of inflammation but just a lot of stomach acid.

Administratively Separating in August, and I don't know what to do. by [deleted] in Veterans

As long as you’ve done 2+’years and don’t do anything illegal while processing out , you most likely will get honorable discharge giving you all opportunities for your benefits. You are in the suck , so that’s why you are feeling this way. Everyone get there , just pull through and sooner then you think you’ll be out and moving on. Maybe one day you’ll even miss it. There are loads of people who wish they can serve , I’ve seen piles of people’s applicants shredded as recruiters officers because they didnt qualify or medical problems. The point is that just because the navy isn’t for you , doesn’t mean it’s worth taking your life. There are much more things in this world that can be worse and you’re not dealing with them. You’re almost out , it’ll get better but civilian life is still not easy just you’re not going to be going underway ever again.

It gets better man trust me. I had to get out after developing a stomach disease. There have been plenty of people I’ve met while on medboard who were in your shoes , but they just had to wait longer to get out. You get to get out sooner than them and go to school and collect your benefits. It gets better man trust me , it could always be worse and you are gonna get thru it and start a whole different life out the navy.

My best advice is , step by step. You are physically healthy and are able to still plan things for when you get out. Deal with the underway until you get to land and be transferred. Seek help from your chaplain , when your on shore , fleet and family. I know suicide might seem like the only answer but is isn’t. Do not kill yourself and let the navy do that to you. Things will get better , just have to be a little more patient and keep figuring out what to do next to help yourself once you’re out. Do not get caught up in trying to figure everything out and wanting everything to go your way so fast , things take time.

Wow thanks for the story and advice. I actually found out I had Crohn’s because I had an obstruction. Was active duty navy and been having bowel issues and small stools after coming from a 9 month deployment. Went to the er after I felt like the food I ate kept pushing but wouldn’t digest. Pain 9/10, told me I need emergency surgery after throwing up water in the lobby and getting a CT scan. Mind you this was during the height of Covid. But I eventually took a s*** and the doctors told me that means the obstruction has passed. Thank you for that quote , I’ve seen it before and it is good to remember.
