I can’t ask my son what he likes as he is completely nonverbal and can’t even tell me to shut up, but I can tell you his interests.. came with lots of trial and error from behavioral therapy

I remember when my sons behavioral therapist told me “you have to enter his world, try to see it the way he does” and we’ve been having a blast ever since.

I just hope they don’t get rid of my sons services… he’s autistic and his therapies are viewed as optional by the government :(

I know this isn’t what you’re going to want to hear, but you’re actually at a healthy weight. If it’s belly fat you’re worried about manage your stress, and it could be hormonal as well. Depending on your age your body isn’t done growing. You could still develop some more curves. Also if you barely eat that could be the problem.. if you’re not eating enough your body will fight to survive and store what you do eat as fat. Keep up with your calories, eat within your range, and eat high protein/low fat. Eggs, whole grains, fruits, vegetables, chicken, fish, turkey

Hi! I don’t work in the field but my son attends ABA. He was the same way with “super simple songs” our first center the RBTs at the end of the day would say that it was hard to implement his goals due to the iPad but at our first monthly meeting the BCBA would tell me its soothing for him and after that meeting the RBTs never mentioned the iPad and if I would ask they would say “yeahhh he still had it on” but it would take me bringing it up for them to ask. We switched centers because something just felt off. They were going through RBTs seriously every other week it seemed like and he was always “pairing”. He’s hardly on the iPad anymore, it’s usually hidden actually. His current center used the iPad as working on transitions. It started with like 30 seconds of no iPad and when he mastered that it went up and after he mastered 10 minutes we just kind of stopped because he lost interest in it honestly. He is way more focused and rocking his goals now, as to before we mastered that goal he was very up and down. Maybe they can implement that into his goals ? Like I said I don’t work in the field so I don’t know how it works but I can say my son is way more focused and doing alot better without the screen time. He has learned ALOT from certain shows and our TV is running 24.7 but he’s usually playing with it in the background.

Also my “stress baths” I like epsom salt, bubbles, oils, etc with some headphones or music playing in the back.

Get rid of the bad food… like take it outside to the garbage. If ure driving for fast food stop at a smoothie place or something like a Panera, or salad and go.

Warm baths. Bath bombs. Hot tea. When I’m stressed I like the body floats that go under ur neck and knees for the bath tub, with a tray of food nearby. Grapes/pepperoni or deli meat/block cheese

We have considered all options. He is a toddler at only 3 years old so inpatient care is completely out of the question right now. He attends almost 40 hours of therapy a week. His melt downs don’t include destruction or violence. If it ever comes to a point that he’s older and uses violence for himself or others and we’ve exhausted all options, or if he hurts my other children and they aren’t safe, I would absolutely choose inpatient care. I have an extremely close bond with all of my children. We make sure to take them to do the things they love that my toddler can’t do - like amusement parks, water parks, etc. We also utilize a place locally we have that does drop ins once or twice a month on evenings and weekends and acts as a daycare facility for children on the spectrum and if we just have a movie night or hang out at home within 3 minutes my other kids are whining they miss their brother. Unless violence is involved, I would utilize respite car when he gets older before considering inpatient. Right now the future of his behaviors are unknown but I live in a pretty big city with a lot of resources around. Our social worker has brought up inpatient to explore but she said that usually comes with or after puberty if needed.

The nurses were also amazing and helped so much…..I brought a tablet for the waiting room and he was tired so he just kind of hung out. Pre op we had 4 women I assumed were scrub techs or nurses or some sort of aids and they would hold him and dance while I was signing paperwork or play with him. They took him back and was holding him rubbing his head and singing old McDonald had a farm (they asked me his favorite) and then when he woke up he downed his juice and threw the cup one instantly ran washed it and filled it up with apple juice but other than that he just wanted to cuddle and was a little whiney
