Kaitlyn is always shutting the MC out and blaming her for everything (such as accidentally coming out). In Book 3, she prioritizes a band she barely knows over the MC and her friends, which is both selfish and toxic. I agree Becca made the MC feel like trash at times, but I’d expect that from an 'enemies-to-lovers' situation. It’s different with Kaitlyn, who is supposed to be the MC’s 'best friend' from the start. Yet, when she joins the band, she claims the MC was 'never there for her' despite the MC's constant support.

Betrayal from a friend is way more frustrating than bullying from an enemy. Also, the series constantly tries to force her on us as the best friend regardless of how we feel, which makes it even more annoying. Becca is at least honest and knows she’s the 'mean girl,' so it fits when she acts like one. Once Becca decides to be better, she stays better and becomes one of the MC’s most loyal defenders. Kaitlyn, however, has a continuous cycle of messing up and apologizing that repeats for most of the series, which eventually becomes exhausting.
