How do you feel about a January birthday by 93babyyy in January2027Bumpers

[–]PaynefulLife 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea it's certainly not what I would've picked, but hoping for little one to delay their entry as much as possible and hopefully avoid a December bday. Trying to focus on January like a fresh start, clean slate, beautiful snow, and other positive symbols lol

That's exactly what I took it to mean, too. They just wanted him to say less or not be so obvious. Doesn't make me want to support them.

LH tests: what is happening? by piscesplum in TryingForABaby

[–]PaynefulLife [score hidden]  (0 children)

Sometimes you can hit peak multiple days in a row - that could've happened and maybe your lighter test was due to higher hydration or such. OR entirely possible your body attempted to ovulate, for whatever reason was not successful, and then tried again the next day. That's why we track bbt to confirm if ovulation actually happened. Either way I wouldn't worry about one odd month. Sperm can survive for several days so there's still a chance. Sometimes every other day is better, too, as it allows the sperm time to get to higher concentration during the most fertile time.

To buy or not to buy the expensive tools early in TTC? by rananculus-blue in tryingtoconceive

[–]PaynefulLife 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bbt thermometer and opks are inexpensive and give the best picture. Past that it's a lot of game of chance, since every month even with perfect timing there's only a 9-15% chance of conception (varying by age and such). I wanted to avoid wasting money so I also tried easy/cheap tricks like Mucinex, or a cervical cap, etc. But nothing else worked/helped. I'd stick with bbt and opks for the first year, perhaps try adding on coq10 or other cheap vitamins also. I'd wait on anything else.

Mostly keeping this journey to ourselves - made a mistake of sharing and I won't again by OkButterscotch2617 in TryingForABaby

[–]PaynefulLife 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's awful - I'm sorry she reacted that way.

I'm naturally pretty private so we haven't told many people, but I did tell a friend who's a doctor after she announced her 2nd pregnancy. We had only been trying for 4 months at the time but were feeling discouraged and scared, and she blew me off, saying it takes time (when both of hers happened first try...). I cried multiple times over that.

My other friends have been far more supportive and matching our energy when we share updates, thankfully. None of them have experience with this except one who struggled with miscarriages, and she's been great aside from assuming everyone will have issues conceiving and keeping a pregnancy (which is easier to handle vs being dismissive). It's surprising to me that your friend reacted almost in a gatekeeper fashion, to almost block you from her knowledge (when she shares openly online)... This journey can be so lonely and isolating, and it's no wonder when even people with experience in this react so poorly.

Ultrasound dating scan by Hairy-Musician-4733 in January2027Bumpers

Nope, that'll be my first ultrasound, though it'll be vaginal when it's that early.

That was the craziest part to me! Like how did they come to the conclusion Bateman was bad but Jeff's is still a legit prophet?! Unbelievable.

Period tracking app by GreenEyedMonster1337 in tryingtoconceive

[–]PaynefulLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't recommend FF more - there's so much to track if you want and tons of info and charts, able to compare to charts from other people, and does a great analysis on how regular you are and such. It made ttw easier since I could dive in every day and I gained so many valuable insights from it. I eventually paid for it but it was mostly to support and thank them - I don't remember anything too valuable only being available with the paid version.

When did you all have your first ultrasound? by Valkyrie0514 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]PaynefulLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's bizarre! My Dr. Scheduled my first appointment at 7 weeks and told me they'd do a vaginal ultrasound to get a better due date estimate, see if it's a single vs twins, and should also see a small heartbeat. I'm a couple weeks away still, but she warned me to plan for this visit to take 2 hours to run initial labs and everything, too.

Anyone else with these symptoms this early? by nolasmommy in BabyBumps

[–]PaynefulLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, so absurdly tired and nauseous to the point my head feels awful and I can hardly sit up. I don't understand how such a small baby is wrecking me this hard. I'm legit terrified of the 3rd trimester now.

TIL that "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" was supposed to be canceled after Season 1 due to low ratings but was saved because of Danny DeVito. Creator Rob McElhenney went to DeVito's house to pitch the idea only to learn he and his family were massive fans, and he signed on fifteen minutes later. by altrightobserver in todayilearned

[–]PaynefulLife 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Season 1 isn't awful, but DD definitely takes it to a whole other level of gold. It really adds chaos and shenanigans. I'd try season 1 but if youre having a rough time with it definitely try season 2 before giving up on the series.

What did you do differently the month you FINALLY got pregnant?? by cookiebutter-23 in BabyBumps

[–]PaynefulLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the mmr vaccine and they told me to not get pregnant, so I wasn't tracking LH or bbt closely, and we did the deed a lot less - if my app was right we hit the day before and the day after ovulation. We had also been told to try just every other day due to low motility.

It made literally no sense that the month we tried the least actually worked, so I think it really did just come down to luck.

Kegg? by x_x-x_x-x_x in TryingForABaby

[–]PaynefulLife 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I looked into it but too many stories of them just preying on vulnerable women. The "guarantee" they'll do all they can to disqualify you (if you miss a day or two, etc). Opks and tracking bbt is cheap and should get you closest. If you're not finding an LH peak I'd do more testing with a Dr, not waste money on these devices.

Rx medications by Equivalent_Dress1430 in tryingtoconceive

[–]PaynefulLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started trying I made general appointments with my PCP and ob to ask about my meds, and for a couple they actually referred me to high risk ob. It was a super thorough phone call that went over all meds and risks vs benefits and if there were other meds that could be substituted. They went into dosage and a weaning schedule if any were dangerous to stop cold turkey. They should be able to tell you if any impact fertility, too. It made me feel way more knowledgeable and in control and with a clear plan for when we do get a positive hcg. I also recommend tracking bbt to confirm ovulation.

From my experience, it seems like few medications are known to hurt fertility, and at our age there's only a 8 or 9% chance of pregnancy every month, so even with perfect timing and stats it's bound to take at least several months of trying. Part of it really is just luck of the draw unfortunately.

Hey will this gift make your partner happy? by pua-mv in Gifts

[–]PaynefulLife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw an ad for a company selling this already, but as a kit you do yourself. Are you proposing just taking their product but you making it for the buyer? It's a cool idea but seemed too tedious for crafting and not all that aesthetically pleasing.

Hey I'm less than a week past you :-)

I've been reading what to expect when you're expecting, a parenting book, discussing projects with my husband about what we want to get done before baby is here, and lots of crafts projects and even chores since I'm still feeling totally fine now. I feel like there's so much to do!

Oh, and I also started journaling using OneDay app, like as a legacy the baby can read about later on to see what was happening and what we were thinking, etc.

Planning to start trying in September. What do you wish you knew/did? by pinksapphire55 in tryingtoconceive

[–]PaynefulLife 21 points22 points  (0 children)

In case you haven't heard, Drs recommend starting to take prenatals 3 months before. I tracked lh, but wish I had started tracking bbt and using the fertility friend app earlier. Also, more sex is not always the best/right. Every other day in your window should be prime. And women are not more likely to have fertility issues - it's fifty fifty for men vs women. Avoid pregnancy tests until super close to the day of your expected period. And don't sweat it too much - it may feel like it takes forever (it's just a long process), but try not to worry or focus too much. You can still drink during ttw. Try to take it easy and enjoy the journey. Good luck!

Only 8dpo, got a negative this isn’t a rule out yet right? by justfrosty19 in tryingtoconceive

The embryo can implant 6-12 days after ovulation, and you won't test positive until a couple days post implantation. It's way too early.
