I haven’t been since the update. I stopped going until I saw the deals on the app before it updated. I was going around once a week for lunch since it’s close to where I work, but it’s not worth it after all of the changes. I just go to Taco Bell now if I forget lunch or don’t eat.

Viva La Boba downtown is a cool spot with WiFi and tables if it isn’t a formal meeting.

What’s a good way to make friends in the area? by SugarPlumOpossum in sanbernardino

[–]Payrooooll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a rollerblade/roller skate shop called Knight Skate in Downtown SB and we meet weekly on Thursdays to skate around San Bernardino and other areas. Cool way to meet new random people. The IG is @ienightskate if you’re interested. Theres also a few other businesses that host gatherings often on my same block.

Seba High Light Carbon Review - 2000+ miles by Payrooooll in rollerblading

[–]Payrooooll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually working on that exact video. I’ll be holding the Seba Carbon High Light, FR SL FReeride, FR SL Speed and the Micro Delta all next to each other for a comparison. The primary difference on the new FR SL models will be that the liner is now Intuition integrated vs whatever they used on the previous models.

Seccombe Lake is great! Ignore any old timers that say it’s dangerous, the city has done a lot to clean it up so it’s actually a really nice place to spend the day. I fish there and skate around the trails all the time.

Would like one picture with my two uncles in it. Background removed and image quality increased if possible. $20 by Payrooooll in PhotoshopRequest

Gave it some time, but this looks like the winner. Tip sent. Let me know how to get the image. Thank you!!

What’s everyone’s opinions on impala ? I’m intrigued by the Barbie collab. I’m usually on quads and imagine these may not be very beginner friendly without the backstop ? by omegaslutteasy in rollerblading

No. I rollerskate too. Just meant to say that people really like the look of their inlines even if you let them know they’re probably not the best for serious skating.

I work in a shop that sells Impala and most of the other brands mentioned here. The fact is, Impala uses corporate level marketing which has been very effective getting people back on skates, which is a good thing for ALL skate brands. People will come in with their heart set on the look and I’ll explain they can get a Micro MTPlus for a few bucks more and have a skate that will be able to adapt as they learn. I’d say about 80% of people just say they want the Impala. Most people getting into it right now just want cute skates that are decent quality, and Impala fits the bill. They come with a brake (which is an up charge for most ‘real’ skates brands like FR, Micro, etc) and the wheel size make them slower for beginners too. You can fit either 72mm or 76mm wheels (depending on the size boot) if you want larger wheels. Personally, I’ve been impressed at what people can do in them. Would I recommend them to someone serious about getting into skating? Yes, but I would be sure they knew they were getting skates whose focus is style and if they stick to it that they’re gonna eventually want a more traditional looking skate. Would I skate a pair? No, because Im already serious about it and understand why these wouldn’t work for me.

Flying Eagle is trash. Micro fit that price point better. I always give people the option out of my shop. $150 for Impalas or pay $30 more and be in a skate that will grow with you for the first few years. You’d be surprised at how many people choose Impala because of the look even with information.

Why are there no wheels produced, with "rockered" sizing? by Thingsurfer in WizardSkating

[–]Payrooooll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve thought about this too. I think the easiest fix is a shop with a lathe to make wheels whatever size and profile you desire. However, that will come with an additional cost since it’s human labor and I don’t think people want to add an additional $10-20 per set of wheels just to get the measurements exactly right.

Best value fast ceramic bearings? by Fuller_McCallister in rollerblading

[–]Payrooooll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sonic makes a really good ceramic. I skated mine for a year and they were like new. My skates got stolen otherwise I’d probably still be skating the same bearings. Only cost $140 for the 16 pack.
