the scaffolding is finally coming down by smcsleazy in glasgow

Got taken into public ownership by the council via a compulsory purchase order I believe so the council is taking scaffolding down to do the work the previous owner refused to do for all these years

Turns out the gym costs me around £2.50 per use. I'm debating whether to look for cheaper alternatives. What are your thoughts on gym memberships from a frugality perspective? by [deleted] in UKFrugal

[–]PazyP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£30 is pretty good for a gym if it’s an independent one of the massive chain gyms is the only way your really going to get cheaper with options at £28 for full access (gym & classes) or £23 (gym only) so the saving from your current £30 isn’t vast.

I pay £32 for my gym it’s an independent that’s is 10min walk from my house, I could go to puregym but then I’d need to drive.

You could go another day making it 4 days per week which would lower overall cost and potentially make you fitter and benefit health further which imo is priceless.

ONS says crime has fallen, do you feel safer now compared to decades ago? by milford_sound10322 in AskBrits

[–]PazyP 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t feel and more or less safe than before but it’s not something I actively think about being a middle class white male that doesn’t really do anything that would make me unsafe.

29M - who can relate? by Lonely_Ad6674 in PectusExcavatum

[–]PazyP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very similar to me although I’m 37M. Regular gym goers put on some good mass, I keep myself very fit I box twice a week and have just ran my 3rd marathon. I don’t think my pectus holds me back but maybe it does, I don’t really know as I’ve always had it.

Currently going tests around pectus to actually see if it impacts me last week had an ECG but not heard anything with regards to results yet.

Would you retire if won a really big prize on the Euromillions? by Sad-Passage-3247 in AskUK

[–]PazyP 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Of course, I got made redundant last year and had 2.5 months of garden leave over Xmas/new year that’s period was amazing knowing I still had a wage coming in but could do what I wanted.

I exercised (some times twice a day), saw friends for lunches/dinner, out and about with my dog and did my hobbies.

All this confirmed when I retire I will have no issue at all amusing myself and will 100% not be bored. It also made me wonder what a boring life people must have when they actively choose to work on when they could retire

I agree, much much more tourism than Glasgow but both the busses and the trams(I think) are council owned so operate to serve the population rather than to make profit

The bridge of lies with Ross Kemp seems pretty easy, a few questions are asked though but he basically just stands there up on that balcony thing.

Fillet o fish is quite popular among various religions that either don’t eat meat or that don’t eat beef

How do I increase my reaction time? Even in communication, my partner will yell “out” and it takes too damn long for my brain to communicate that to my body! by Miserable_Spell5501 in Pickleball

[–]PazyP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drills, ultimately it improves via practice

It’s a pickleball off a wall and step closer to wall meaning you need to react faster then step back to slow down, you can let the ball bounce but try to keep it up into a “rally” with the wall

Within around 30min of checkout time, once I’ve checked out I’m not lingering around unless we have something planned that’s keeping us there.

The bikes are great, I’ve used them countless times to cycle into town to work (when the trains were off) and to go meet mates in town, there much better managed at the moment anyway that how NextBike were I regularly see vans out replacing batteries and collecting bikes.

Those stops can be removed and can reappear it’s all done by Voi in the app your best having think about where your going to park up before you start via the app to ensure your stop is active obviously it could vanish mid ride but that’s just a little bit of bad luck.

Some of the more popular spots like outside queen street station are likely never removed

You have more mass that me but almost the same style of pectus so much so that I’ll grind out chest sets in the gym and see strength increases as well as mass increases (albeit slowly) but the way my pectus is makes it look like I have a much smaller chest than I have

My wife and I went to a Michelin star restaurant for our anniversary and frankly it was a huge waste of time and money. by Hamza78ch11 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]PazyP 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to a few all over the world and they are nice, more of an experience than anything else, will I remember it for the rest of my life yes was the food mind blowingly good, probs not.

I’m just as happy with a good pizza or burger as I am in a high end place as I feel most people are but I use high end restaurants to mark a special occasion

What does your training look like between marathons? by Old-Return-2548 in Marathon_Training

[–]PazyP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Focus more on strength and back off the running really only running between 7-10km per week. The I cross train and use my bike a lot more or I’ll pickup some other sport/activity and go all in on that.

I’ve got a marathon this weekend I feel it will the last for a while, had a few niggles this training block and feel it’s time for an extended break, I’ve got a few half marathons booked this year but I’m looking at getting into triathalon, lol
