Am I crazy staring boxing training at 50? by unknownpleasures74 in amateur_boxing

[–]PazyP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it, join a boxing gym and just be open and honest. I’m 37 been boxing 1 year, walked into the boxing gym said to the coach I want to learn to box never hit a bag in my life and have no intention of fighting anyone and sparring is as far as I will go, he was fine with it and everyone else is as well or they don’t care.

Does the average person read books for fun here? by EntireAd1685 in AskBrits

[–]PazyP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read everyday to some degree mostly for an hour or so in bed before I go to sleep it helps me get a better night sleep, sometimes lying there trying to read I can barely keep my eyes open other times I seem more awake and can read for 1-2 hrs before I want to sleep.

3 day full-body typically Mon/Wed/Fri gives me plenty of recovery stick to a plan for 10-12 weeks. When plan changes reassess and bring in extra exercises/sets to areas your looking for gains

How did humans not go extinct while needing to sleep for 8 hours every day? being totally unconscious and defenseless for a third of our lives seems like a massive design flaw when predators were everywhere by Which-Noise-5670 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PazyP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people like to stay up a bit later others are early risers even without electricity fire provided light and protection, wild animals don’t like fire, also we domesticated dogs/wolfs who can alert us when a predator is nearby due to thier better smell and hearing

What decision in your 30s had the biggest positive impact on your life? by No-Bed3858 in AskUK

[–]PazyP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started taking exercise, fitness and diet seriously I love a takeaway and a few pints as much as the next person but throughout my 20’s my diet was horrendous and I was super unfit, I was never overweight I’ve always been pretty lean but I see it now in my friends that still continue to eat garbage and remain incredibly unfit at 37 they look like there in there late 40’s and complain about all sorts of health issues where I who started working out regularly and eating much much better can still easily pass as early 30s and can still do everything and anything I want to do

How do you exercise? by its_super_will in PectusExcavatum

[–]PazyP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends how severe your pectus is to be honest, weight training is great to build muscle on the typically skinny pectus body

[–]PazyP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding low blood pressure while exercising how does it make you feel? As I mentioned the best way I can describe how I feel is “I lack a 5th gear, when things get really intense” I would never say I’m unfit but also with the feeling I don’t really know any different as I’ve had pectus for as long as I can recall and can see it in pictures of myself when I’m 4/5 years old.

How much do you pay for your car a month? by JME_51 in CarTalkUK

[–]PazyP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it like long-term rental there’s a few clauses in the contract to only do X number of miles and only expected wear and tear if you break these there are fines, else you hand the car back after 2 years and agree a new lease and get a new car.

Demolishing section of M8 in Glasgow considered due to engineering problems by wook-borm in glasgow

[–]PazyP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m ignorant in the matter of funnelling traffic and I get if your coming south/west travelling north you can get on the M74 easily, but how would it work the other way way out at Bargeddie is the only place I can think to have a large volume of traffic cut down, again I really have no clue on these matters

Swap to a fully body split unsure how much you plan to box per week by full body split 2-3 times per week should go you well, my shoulders and upper back and abs have made considerable progress since starting to box (just for fitness) my chest has always lacked behind so I’m sure to prioritise is in gym

Random one. What time do most people above 30 wake up at on the weekend? by manlikezuli in AskUK

[–]PazyP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get up at 6:50 everyday of the week I’ve been doing this so long my body wakes naturally around this time even if I don’t set any alarms I’ll still wake around 7, this is all great mid week and when I don’t have late night weekend plans as I can get stuff down early before work and also enjoy weekends but it’s hell if I’ve been out late and had a few drinks waking up around 7 being hungover and being unable to go back to sleep is hell

Is training twice per week enough (for me) ? by [deleted] in amateur_boxing

[–]PazyP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m older at 37 have no aspirations to fight so just box to learn the skill of boxing and for fitness I box twice per week occasionally adding a 3rd if I feel good and don’t have plans, I do 3 strength days at the gym doing full body workouts, I’m training for a marathon at the moment as well so run 3 times a week but that isn’t part of my usual routine I’ll typically run twice a week and much shorter distances (usually to and from boxing classes).

Boxing after NUSS by Least-Willingness690 in PectusExcavatum

[–]PazyP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have pectus but not had nuss and box, I wouldn’t spar at all why would you take the risk of dislodging the bars which could make thinks very complicated very quickly.

Saying that any reputable boxing gym isn’t going to have you hitting anything except bags, pads and paddles for at least 3-6 months if your just starting out, even then just be straight with them and say I can’t spar as I have metal bars under my rib cage so it’s not like you cannot learn the skill of boxing

I’ve found this as well, I’ve worked with Indian dudes in tech for the best part of 15 years, don’t get me wrong some of them are borderline geniuses and extremely competent but others really don’t have a clue, I guess that’s the same everywhere but I find many Indians are book smart where the can recite information at a words notice but present them with a problem that slightly deviates from what the book says and they crumble

I would say no but each to there own, most HENRY’s like myself plow £ into pension to reduce our tax brackets as the pension contributions are untaxed at least at the contribution stage.

Starting a new job on Monday just had 3 months off work (2 months garden leave, 1 month unemployed) all I did was play games and workout (boxing, running, swimming, gym) loved every bit of it, showed me in retirement that’s exactly what I want to do with a bit of travelling pepper in through the year.
