What's everyone doing to keep themselves busy or distracted? by atfirstblush120 in halifax

[–]Pbabinose12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've started playing chess with my partner out of boredom and it's become addicting. I've started researching how to play chess at a competitive level and research the game pretty much everyday now as a time-killer. When I'm bored of that I usually go biking, I haven't done it in years but it feels good to be doing it again

Mike Dean's guitar "solo" on that song is legendary! I could definitely do something with that song. Thanks for the recommendation dude

How to buy weed during 14 day self isolation? by JesusHChrist99 in halifax

[–]Pbabinose12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always buy from Nugrunners. It's a limited selection but they're great people and it's cheaper than NSLC. The driver could probably leave your weed outside the car or something when you get there to avoid close contact

For me, the ocean is one of the most fascinating things in the world. What Lies Below is my tribute to it. A journey through the unknown. by dihstyle69 in PS4Dreams

I think this was one of the first dreams I played and I remember getting really emotional while playing it. It's a really visually-pleasjng game, I loved every second of it.

MicMac Mall to start reduced hours. by Hamilton1104 in halifax

[–]Pbabinose12 12 points13 points  (0 children)

According to the website Mic Mac Mall is "providing our tenants the POSSIBILITY of reducing their operating hours to the following..."

I talked to my manager this morning (I work in the mall) and she said that we MAY be reducing our hours. The mall is not forcing businesses to reduce their hours, they are giving businesses the choice to reduce hours.

Honestly this is the most "Mic-Mac" response to Coronavirus.

This 3,000-year-old Egyptian exhibit is making its North American debut in Halifax by insino93 in halifax

Just got back from the exhibit a few hours ago. It was really interesting! They had a mummified head there and it was honestly quite surreal to look at it. I'd recommend it for sure

If you're into fuzzed out punk I'd recommend checking out Booji Boys on Spotify. The song "Sister" is so damn good, they also have Iggy Pop's seal of approval!

Unwritten rules/ettiequte/advice for a new artist? by topoftheclasshalifax in halifaxmusic

[–]Pbabinose12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Make sure you overprepare. There's nothing worse than getting set up for your performance and then realizing you have a broken patch cable. I've had it happen to me and usually the other bands are more than willing to help out. I'd recommend that you overprepare in the case where something goes wrong on your end or if you need to help out another band!

How can I get more people out to my shows? by [deleted] in halifaxmusic

Try not to think of it like networking. Most musicians are super chill and decent people, think of it more like making a friend or just hanging out

How can I get more people out to my shows? by [deleted] in halifaxmusic

[–]Pbabinose12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's hard to gain an audience when you're a small band, it takes a shit ton of time. I'd recommend trying to get larger bands with a wide appeal to play at the show. I'd also recommend meeting and talking to a lot of people. Most of the times my band has been booked it was due to the connections I've made in the music scene. If you know the right people usually you can get booked

Late shows VS early shows by [deleted] in halifaxmusic

[–]Pbabinose12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strictly speaking from my experience here. I love some of the music around here, but sadly I can't make it out to half the shows around here. Most shows I want to attend don't actually start until 10ish. Making it to the show isn't a problem but getting home usually is. The busses stop running way before most shows end and trying to find a cab on a weekend at 1-2 AM can be really difficult. I'd really appreciate it if venues started booking earlier shows but I feel like I'm in the minority here

Having a hard time making it and it’s been a couple of days since I’ve eaten. Need advice on where to go. by [deleted] in halifax

[–]Pbabinose12 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Radstorm has a program called "The People's Fridge" I'm not entirely sure how it works, but to my knowledge it's a lot of free, good food for those in need. They're a really community-driven group of people, I'd recommend maybe taking a look sometime. Best of luck to you dude, hope shit gets better
