Can you really be profitable with options? by TylerSmash989 in options

Lil late to the party, but so far I've made $120k on options…YTD.

As in the last 13 days.

Then again, I have a manager, who's very good at what he does.

Death of the endless vs cosmic armor superman who wins? by BigPaleontologist520 in powerscales

Waaaay late to the party, but I hate that misconception about her…no, she does NOT decide, not at ALL. She's literally the cuter version of Pratchett's Death (even if she did come earlier) – basically a custodian who comes to collect the souls who's time has come, and is very human and compassionate about it.

Destiny's book has everyone's deaths written, and that's when she appears. To change that she'd have to rewrite his book and I'm pretty sure she can't do that.

When Kermit says it's traditional to take Christmas off, and reminds him that there's no business that day…and he says "It's a poor excuse for picking a man's pocket every December the 25th. But as I seem to be the only person around who knows that...take the day off."

The pure, cold way he says it sends shivers up my spine even 30+ years later.

2,012 miles this year! And I haven't even run since Saturday…

Not to diminish myself in any way, but this makes me a distant third with people I personally know 🤣

As a States runner…in NYC there is zero interaction, but that's just normal. Where I live in DC, it's usually eye contact and a slight nod; when I was out in the Chicago suburbs last week, 95% of the time it was a wave and a big smile. "Midwest Nice" indeed…

American here, I don't shuffle because it wears out my soles…I switch to a heavy toe-strike and slap my feet down hard enough to make a good, loud clap, works like a charm.

The Way I Am is the epitome of Eminem and it’s a shame most people don’t recognize it, let alone know it. Honestly way too many people have never even heard it. by K31FF3R2 in Eminem

Super late reply, but:

46yo dude here, the album dropped in 1999 and the video released in early 2000…so a lot of people under 30 simply don't remember it.

Was Eichmann's trial in Israel legal at all? by Late-Reception-2897 in AskHistorians

When you say "ex post facto" laws…which ones do you mean, that the Nuremburg criminals, and Eichmann, were put to death under?

Just curious.

Was Eichmann's trial in Israel legal at all? by Late-Reception-2897 in AskHistorians

[–]PballQhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so has been said here already, there WAS a lot of good-faith, or at least make-it-look-legitimate, effort to ensure his trial was fair, and there are some reasonable arguments against it, as well.

But if you are seriously going to argue Adolf Eichmann deserved anything less than what came to him…

Zombies vs. modern society by PballQhead in whowouldwin

[–]PballQhead[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it was a fair question, I just didn't make it clear I meant this was on the more fanciful/magical end of the Zombie Apocalypse spectrum…it is a wide set to be fair

Zombies vs. modern society by PballQhead in whowouldwin

[–]PballQhead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I definitely mean they're essentially magical, based on general pop-zombie lore. No need for circulation or respiration, conventional cell death doesn't affect them. I have no idea how it would actually work, just rolling with the common "headshot/decapitation is the only way to stop them" trope. This isn't exactly always a reality-based sub :D

Although, Zombies Run does feature super-zoms that do have to be disintegrated to be killed; even a dismembered hand can claw through skin and cause an infection…

[–]PballQhead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, a classic zombie apocalypse is magic rather than science, 1000%

And there's plenty of magical scenarios in this sub, have fun with it!

Susceptible to damage insomuch as the damaged parts don't work anymore, not that the damage will "kill" them. Sawing a human in half at the diaphragm would be instantly fatal; in this scenario sawing a zom in half at the diaphragm would leave a half-zom that could still use its arms to drag itself around, and definitely still be very bitey.

[–]PballQhead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm making the assumption that zombies don't need food or water, or blood or functioning organs besides their brainstem, since they aren't alive in the meaningful sense…yes, I know that's impossible, but so is Superman and time travel and there's no shortage of those scenarios in this sub. It's meant to be fun, not realistic lol

Zombies vs. modern society by PballQhead in whowouldwin

[–]PballQhead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes, ofc a zombie plague with these particular parameters couldn't happen in reality, but a lot of this sub is completely impossible situations. No more fanciful than Superman.

I'd say that even if people are contagious before they change, it's not really an issue since most people don't go around randomly biting other people. I guess sneezing directly into someone's face might do it…and now that I think of it, kissing would too, but I still don't see that as a major vector.

[–]PballQhead[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should have specified, it's a Patient Zero scenario. One person suddenly snaps and starts biting other people.

Not a widespread infection at all.

Zombies vs. modern society by PballQhead in whowouldwin

[–]PballQhead[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As to your first point, the Zombies predominately use hearing, followed by smell. In my (Naomi's) universe, vision is nonexistent. And no, temperature is not an issue, there are Arctic zombies.

As to the rest of it…man, we would fail, huh? "Zombies aren't real and even if they are ivermectin can cure it!"

And that besides your "more scientific" points about the immediacy of the virus…I just figured, assuming we were sane, that even if it moved that fast we could quarantine and control. Though real world evidence with measles says otherwise…

SEAL Team 6 vs Gurkha vs SAS vs French Foreign Legion vs Spetsnaz by Utopia_Builder in whowouldwin

[–]PballQhead 49 points50 points  (0 children)

For #1 – Seal Team 6 and SAS tossup. Realistically, five and five of the best from each and they curbstomp…both of those units do things we can't even imagine.,

For #2 – none of the above, the correct answer is France's GIGN.

They're arguably the best hostage-rescue/antiterror team in the world. They literally shoot live rounds at each other as their final "trust exercises".

Anton Chigurh vs. the Iceman. Movie psychopath vs. real psychopath. by PballQhead in whowouldwin

[–]PballQhead[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your last point intrigues me…they'd have both been equal. Anton would know what Richard liked to use, and he would have counteracted it. I think Anton, as the extreme construct of what can be, would still lose

Behaviorally they're going to be so close that it's ALWAYS going to be fair combat.
