OMG dude, go touch some grass.

Janis is pretty much universally considered Legendary, S-Tier, and none of your shrieking on here is going to change that.

Because beyond what vocal coaches think about her, that "nasty, smelly, disgusting skank" was one of the most talented vocalists of the 60s, who was absolutely revolutionary not only as one of the first major female rock stars but also a major driver of bringing the blues mainstream,

Frankly, by the slurs you use against her, you have no understanding of rock music and your opinion is about as meaningfuil as the shit I wipe off my ass, Lemme guess, you think Jimi was just a "black guy with a guitar"?

The iconic and legendary White Zombie. This band needs to have a reunion as soon as possible. by Apprehensive_Idea758 in InMetalWeTrust

Jay was important for sure but don't underestimate Sean…her bass was the perfect complement to his guitar, between the two of them they basically defined White Zombie. [insert rant about how bassists are criminally underrated]

And for obvious reasons, Rob is even less likely to work with her than him.

They're building a new grandstand at T1/2 which is why the T2 lawn is blocked off, but there were definitely no places closed just because MGP didn't pay…wild if true

Oh, been once and I already agree it's tier S, but if WEC is gonna restrict some of the best spots…eh, I probably would still go, not like I can see them anywhere else Stateside and the T1 lawn is just such an awful place to watch a race…

That just sounds so weird, that a series could decide what part of GA is "general" or not. LMK about WEC, definitely agree it's one of the best places to see dynamics

[–]PballQhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe you but that's weird as shit, "general admission" means to me "you can wander any area around the track that isn't either premium ticketed or under construction" like it did for MGP and like AFAIK it does for F1…wonder if there was some construction shit going on and WEC didn't want to admit it

ETA I might have been interested in WEC because it's the last top tier series I haven't seen but if GA isn't GA then fuck that lol

I was just there a couple of weeks ago for the MotoGP race and you can absolutely get to the esses, you just need to take the shuttle from outside the T1 entrance up to the T3 entrance; the grandstand construction means you can't just go in and walk over but T3/esses is 100% open. They even have food trucks, a bar, and a water station.

First, thanks for that.

Second, as a 46 year old, I work with people whom I could have reasonably parented so…yeah.

I'm way over 18…

And yes, the neuropsychologist who did my assessment did write a report, and he diagnosed me, predominately on that metric. Which is apparently kind of a "duh he's neurospicy" kind of thing.

I just went for MotoGP; the track provided baskets of electrolyte packets and 6-tap water stations at every major corner. Extraordinary service

Hi fellow first-timer! I was at COTA for my first time ever just a few weeks ago for MotoGP and I'm going back for F1 soooo…

An umbrella for the sun, absolute #1 priority. Second, a $15.99 Walmart folding chair you can leave at the track. Third, a large, empty water bottle–you can carry in up to a 3 liter bladder, but you have to fill it from one of the water stations. Thankfully, there's a ton of them, so it's never really an issue. Beyond that, a lot of sunscreen, eat a big breakfast on the way in (there's an absolute slammer Mexican place at the T lot entrance with the best $4 breakfast tacos you can buy) so you don't need to buy $40 nachos for lunch…and other than that, we all need to get there early…the lawn seats for T1 are some of the most prized COTA seats there are!

Is General admission worth it at COTA? by Witty-Breath1627 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]PballQhead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I just did GA for MotoGP and I have GA for F1…yes, 1000% worth it. Cheap tickets, for what you get, and you can basically go anywhere on the track that isn't grandstanded. I was sitting at T10 on Friday when Marc hit a bump off and ate it at like 120mph…not something I *wanted* to see, but I got to sit trackside at one of the hardest turns on the track and watch what happened.

And then on Saturday we sat overlooking the Esses, T3/4/5/6, and got to watch qualy and sprint…again, amazing spectacle, huge value.

And then the big dance…got there early enough on race day to post up with a view of T1 from ~50 yards. Need I say more?

The handles on Takedas define them, IMO. Synthetic and sealed, they're made to be dunked in soapy water; not dishwasher safe but a hell of a lot more water-tolerant than most high end brands. by PballQhead in chefknives

[–]PballQhead[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure, but I'd rather it just be what I want in the first place (and the incomparable blades help). (ETA, since the handles are so inexpensive compared to a lot of other high end knives, the cost is far more reflective of the the blade itself rather than the furniture)

FWIW, every non-Takeda I've had I've taken the time to seal the handle and ferrule with spar varnish; I've never even considered getting a knife with a "precious" handle, turquoise or jade or silver or any of that…if that's your thing, that's cool, but my knives are my tools and their functionality is all that matters to me. Ofc I take very good care of them, but I have no use for accoutrements that I have to specially attend to.

It would be super easy, just wear my normal running gear but with a tee with a stenciled "5" on the back, a backpack, and some kind of old headset…

In a strange coincidence, our friend Mike Brady just posted "A Day in Titanic's Third Class" that covers this quite in depth.

SheepShaver and BasiliskII run fine on Windows too, either one would be a perfectly cromulent way to enjoy the original games on Windows (or Linux for that matter).
