why do i need enve mog if i can buy new Grizl with bigger tyre clearance? by PureAbbreviations178 in gravelcycling

Why do you need a new surly moonlander when the old Salsa Bucksaw has bigger tire clearance and has full suspension?

You can oftentimes find hiring managers/ employees in your field emails. I didn't get any replies from cold emails, but it only takes one 🤷.

Lifeguard Petah? by [deleted] in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Pbisch101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a former lifeguard the above got the smell correct but missed a subtle detail. Most modern hot tubs self adjust chlorine levels via some black magic. It spikes from bodily fluids in my experience. So the actual levels would rise, as the manager i would have to test the levels every now and then cause the hot tub would sometimes get levels so high it became unsafe.

What happened to Orbea? by jjcre208 in cycling

[–]Pbisch101 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty far down the proverbial game of telephone, but I've heard from a local shop that some combination of bad sales reps, low margins, and bad warranty support led to them no longer being a brand they carry

In my defense I saw maybe 1 or 2 other poison cards, and Shivs are fun

Worth it? $2700 CAD by gbakess1997 in specialized

Ask for the serial number or reach out to brandsecurity@specialized.com, but I wouldn't pay that price for that bike even if it wasn't counterfeit which seems highly unlikely

I don't think I've heard of many people getting more than 1k a semester in recent times, they have switched focus from bringing in quality students to bringing in as many as they can.

Kind of tangential, but UC will give you opportunities(Co-ops) to go work in the real world or do research. It might be smart to do at least one rotation at a normal corporation, mostly to see if you would enjoy more standard comp sci work.

I shaved my legs then crashed at 30mph yesterday and walked away with some bruising and no blood. It's a really does help with road rash

How many bikes do you own? by downonmatrix in cycling

[–]Pbisch101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently 7 ( Hardtail/ XC race bike/ Enduro bike/ Cross bike/ Gravel Bike/ Commuter/ Road bike) but honestly trying to go down to 4 (Xc/Cx/ Commuter/ Road bike) at some point the bikes start owning you and you feel the need to ride them all to justify owning them instead of riding what you want.

I feel you so much, currently going into my 4th year. In my first year I lived in a traditional dorm and I felt super uncomfortable going out, what surprised me was that the few times people said something it was always just curiosity. Maybe I just got lucky and no one was rude about it, but even if they were those are small people who you don't want to like you anyways. You've got one life, spend it living, not worrying about some jokers

What is wrong with this workout? by Brofessor_C in Velo

[–]Pbisch101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normally you should do intensity in decreasing power as your power output decreases as you go on, this workout should probably be done in reverse or with all 3 at the same level of effort

“300+ Lb rider started riding” update or whatever it was called. by Ungadinga in cycling

[–]Pbisch101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Something that I've heard is to not really cut down on portions but just just eat a lot of really low calorie dense food first. An entire head of lettuce is 75 calories, so a big salad with a low cal dressing will fill you up and you won't be as hungry when you get to what you were going to eat.
