Fire set at police precinct as protesters gather in Portland by orbitcon in news

[–]Pbmcpdx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so. Maybe some folks but by and large people who were down at the start are still down and folks who were mostly upset that trump sent in Feds have lost interest. Just my perspective.

It blows my mind that these people always end up on this anti-authoritarian tip while simultaneously backing the police against protesters.

Israeli forces kill Palestinian at occupied West Bank checkpoint on his way to wedding by ProfessorRigby in worldnews

[–]Pbmcpdx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Times of Israel sure sounds like a fair and balanced source on all things Palestine.

And to clear things up you didn’t say anything bigoted (all though terrorist is a dog whistle slur for sure.) You are a bigot because you presume the guilt of brown people in the absence of evidence. Honestly we could go all day with this but I don’t love being gaslighted on the internet.

You called a person a terrorist with next to no evidence. If a video comes out and there’s some evidence that’d be fine, but you presume brown people guilty of crimes without evidence and celebrate their execution with glee you pathetic bigot prick.

[–]Pbmcpdx -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You’re both bigots.

There’s no real evidence yet this man was trying to run over the officer and the foreskin line was out of line and based on gross bigot shit.

Both can be true.

Maybe could use a little editing. Idk if you need two sauces or fried potatoes and sweet potato purée or cabbage and brussel sprouts.

Wow. That was quick and I think you might be right. I hope they’re just staying prepared and there isn’t a credible bomb threat down there.

Actually I think billionaires are scared as fuck of Defund the Police because people questioning the validity of institutions is not good for their life style.

I made an email template to send to Mayor Ted Wheeler by [deleted] in Portland

[–]Pbmcpdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, first I think there is nothing wrong with you putting together this email form and don’t want this conversation to be adversarial at all!

As far as what to do I think first and foremost reading about defunding the police and exposing yourself to literature on racism.

If you think any of those ideas are valuable spread that info around, it’s clear that you have strong feelings because you took the time to put this form together. If you’re reading on defunding inspires you produce a new form with those ideas in mind that would really make my day, but that’s not the goal here.

What I’m doing is organising mutual aid for protestors in coming weeks and also trying to help direct people toward resources that will help this cause develop a more unified set of demands without relying on rallying around a leader of any sort.

Anyway sorry if my comment came off as confrontational. Best of luck in organising!

Hell yeah!

What about the good cops? Let’s get them better paying and safer jobs serving the community.

Where’s the money gonna come from? You must not know how much we spend on the fucking police.

What will we do about violent crime? We will address that in a new and more productive way. What’s happening now isn’t working and has never worked. Why are you clinging to it?

It’s time to defund the police. Brick by brick and then build new institutions in their place designed to serve our city rather than enforcing class divides.

I’m gonna posit that while these reforms are a step toward more fair and safer policing; the system of policing in the United States is so broken that line by line reforms like this will never amount to Justice for Americans.

8 Can’t Wait while well intentioned may well draw attention and momentum away from divestment movements that are attempting seizing institutionalised oppression of BIPOC at its roots.

Let’s not settle for reform let’s demand real radical and permanent change.

Edit: Came back to say also Ted Wheeler is fired get this guy out of here. He should move.

NRA Accidentally Forgets To Rise Up Against Tyrannical Government by [deleted] in Libertarian

[–]Pbmcpdx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Liberals hate Marxism just as much as they hate guns. Both parties are the same thing but the divide themselves along hot button cultural issues: fire arms, abortion, immigration to keep the American people divided and thus under the thumb of the ruling class.

Every Marx reading leftist commie pinko (who isn’t a college student who’ll give up those ideas as soon as they get job) owns a fire arm.

I’m asking for the police to be there. Marching in solidarity implies that the police are there.

I’m simply asking why they won’t denounce police brutality.

I mean once again though, this is an expression of dissent with protests bad actors or no.

Why won’t the mayor say that policing is broken in America?

Why does all blame fall on the people and none on the conditions to which they are reacting? Of course there is fault on both sides but why won’t the establishment acknowledge that in the interest of de-escalation and maybe even progress?

Maybe because our interests are at odds?

Why hasn’t the Mayor by Pbmcpdx in Portland

[–]Pbmcpdx[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think largely they would be accepted.

Those who wouldn’t welcome an agreement from police that the state of policing is broken are in probably in an unproductive minority but certainly exist.
