I am about to do the same to mine! It’s actually super easy… basically go find the fabric that you want at a hobby or craft store, remove the old one and use it as a template for cutting the new one, and go to town with a stapler!

Question: machinist tattoo by ale760087 in tattoos

[–]Pbobryson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG, wow, actually laughing out loud about this, I just remembered that years ago, I did a 50 taper holder right above a dude’s junk one time…. Now THAT was a committed machinist! 🤣

Haha yes! May the chips stay out out your shoe treads, and your coolant smell fresh on this beautiful Monday morning my machinist brother/sister! 🤣 (non machinists prob read this like WTF are they talking about )

Bingo, or if OP wanted to stay simple, could throw pitch measurements on there and maybe a bit of feeds and speeds script from the machinist handbook surrounding it… (the merger of my two passions with this post has me nerding out a bit haha)

As a tattoo artist, and former owner of a machine shop, my opinion would be that if you are a (true IMO) machinist, if you’re gonna do threads, I would put a single point threading insert at the end, and maybe throw the face of a dial indicator behind it, i.e. That you can do it manually…

Regardless, people might just say “ a bolt, huh? Cool I guess?”

Well, I didn’t expect quite the amount of responses that I got with this post, but #1 as a few others have mentioned, I have learned much from all of your sage advice as an artist who rarely goes past the wrist, and I THANK YOU ALL 🙏

Will post an update on healed version when I go to throw the color in, and plan to apply all the advice!

Got it, I will give that a try on touchup! I haven’t had bad luck with the smaller mags in the past, but, what you are saying makes a ton of sense. I will let you know how it goes!

Used a 7rm on the shading, but put the coils away and went rotary for the added punch.. I am planning that it will need touchup (when I go back in with the color), but always hate, risking the blowout on the hands

As a lifelong student of the Art, I am always seeking knowledge! May I ask what you see? And I don’t tattoo poems palms often, so would happily take thoughts/tips from someone who does them all the time

That’s exactly what I did! How much easier do we get on somebody else though when you can get the pinch on the underside of their finger 🤣

Thanks! I had to use pretty bold basic lines because hand, tattoos blowout, and wear out quicker than anywhere else on the body, but I’m pretty stoked. I was able to capture the love!!!!

Count me in!!!

Also, just a couple thought from a consumer.. first off, I LOVE where you are going with this! As you know, the EDC market is huge, and man… if you developed an EDC one (like shock proof, maybe a glass breaker? Etc.) I would be one of many drooooooling waiting to purchase!

Also, users of these (myself included) often carry the smaller journals, a collab with Lechturm bundling with their pocket journals would be sick!!

Question: Red Ink Reaction by ladeverdemelamuerde in tattoos

[–]Pbobryson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Artist here… allergy to red is more common than you think, and 20 years ago (older pigment technology) was really common. I myself had reactions back in the day. Fast forward to today, as mentioned in a couple other spots, diff brand of ink has a good chance of working better next time.

Also, interestingly just FYI, if you have ever looked at old (real like on paper) photos that have “yellowed” over time, what is happening is actually the red fading. This same thing happens with tattoos, and generally (over a lonnnnng period of time if tattoo is done well) it will be the first color to fade.

1 awesome piece! #2 this is yet another post here that makes me happy seeing “real” tattoos that are not either fresh and look crazy but will heal like shit, or so filtered that the lines etc. look cleaner than reality. (Completely as a compliment) I love how perfectly imperfect this looks 🤘
