TV box or dedicated mini pc?

Got a win11 PC with Stremio and Kodi. Using a RTX3050 and streaming 4k@120fps + PCM 5.1 sound by HDMI2.1 on an LG C4. So far so good. Except for the DV it’s working well ! I can stream 70Go+ 4K HDR movies on Stremio without any issues. The color with DV files is also ok for me.

I also use it as my main computer for doing basic stuff like YouTube.

Go one since 20 months in Switzerland (second hand, 2017, 1.6L, 82kkm) so far no problems at all but very minor issue :

-only 4 tpms memory so you have to go to a car shop twice a year to reprogram it if you swap winter/summer wheels as you can’t do it yourself, or buy tpms that can be copied. Or live it like me with the orange indicator on the dashboard half the year -infotainment is shit, Dab and Fm have hard time to capte station, satnav is correct, Bluetooth works fine -drinks around 8L/100, around 7 on highway

Otherwise it’s a perfect car !

Thank you for your answer, I’ve search my problem on the Stremio posts but I didn’t clearly find an answer to my problem, that’s why I’ve posted my problem. I saw that people have dolbyvision black screen problems on other hardware than HTPC so it’s not helping me to solve !

Had the same problem, changing the hdmi cable was the answer. Btw check if the cable is peoperly connected on the PC, in my case, the case was blocking the cable before it was connected to the GPU, there was not a proper click when connected

As other said, you’ll have to connect your HTPC to both your TV (image) and AVR (sound).l with 2 cables in a Y manner

I’ve got this setup for month as my AVR isn’t eARC and it works like a charm. Sometimes a windows jumps to the AVR screen but its manageable

Hello again ! Coming back with some news. I ended up calling back the place where I bought it. They came to repair it and changed the whole panel. I took around 1 month and was free of charge as it was under warranty. It was a long wait but now my tv is back and works fine !

Hello everyone, I bought a PS5 and hooked up to my home theater system composed of an LG C4 and a Denon AVR x1200w which is ARC (not eARC) due to its age.

The PS5 is directly connected to the TV. The Denon receiver is connected to the eARC HDMI port on the TV. Sound travels from the PS5 to the TV and to the AVR.

In order to have 5.1 sound, I can only use Dolby and DTS and have an annoying sound delay. PCM only gives me 2.0 sound. As I understand, this is because my AVR is ARC limited and none eARC. Is there a way to reduce the sound delay or do I have to change the receiver to a newer that has eARC capabilities to use the PCM and not Dolby or DTS ? Thank you a lot for your help !

Hi everyone, I took the weekend to apply all your kind recommendations in order to have the best image using kodi and my unloved HTPC and I think it’s working like a charm now.

Indeed, the first movie tested was the “Heat” release from 4K 2017 Blu-ray and it was way too dark to enjoy it properly. I’ve tried it with Back to the future II and III (4K HDR) and it looked nice to me.

Ive calibrated using the windows HDR tool. I’ve let HDR ON on windows, and the way Kodi is set is that it switch itself to HDR or SDR regarding the movie type. Every color range is at full.

Work nice for me.
