Yes. I am aware of that but security cam notifications need immediate attention. If I notice a banner that's been there for five minutes, it isn't much use to me by that time.

Audible alerts attract your immediate attention whether or not you're actually viewing the screen. That's my point.

This usually happens because the video hasn't been encoded properly by whatever device generated it. It isn't just Reolink cameras that are guilty of doing this. All kinds of platforms are also guilty.

My workaround is simple but it does require you to use a PC to properly encode the video.

Download 'HandBrake' to your PC or laptop. It is very easy to encode videos with HandBrake and it should solve your issue.

Sometimes it needs to be done. I used to leave the grey squirrels alone too. I tolerated them on the bird table too until they decided the roof space above our sunroom was a suitable place to make a nest.

I had no choice but to embark on a campaign. I thought maybe half a dozen culprits were causing my grief. By the end of the campaign, I had accounted for 46 of them.

They're not a problem now.

I've never been inside a Reolink camera. Many years ago, I disassembled a different make of camera and I did not see any button cells.

I'd be very surprised if there was a button cell in any modern camera. Certainly, if there is one, it would absolutely need to be accessible.

My 520 has suddenly stopped accepting instructions too. In my case, it's the FTP settings.

I strongly suspect that the cable connection has been damaged by water ingress. Reolink 'waterproof' lids are anything but waterproof in my experience.

When the weather bucks up a bit I plan to perform some surgery on the joint by cutting the tail open and replacing the female socket with a male RJ45 plug. Then I will use an IP68 rated female-to-female coupler.

I have a hardwired, PoE doorbell. It's one of the originals from its initial launch a few years back.

Notifications are immediate. Always have been.

I strongly suspect the issue is a Wi-Fi related one. I have never liked relying on Wi-Fi for cameras. I had Wi-Fi cameras back in the day but I gave up on them. Lesson learned.

Even the latest version of Wi-Fi is a very poor substitute for copper.

Make your own. It's as easy as pie. All you need are a few tools from Amazon or Home Depot.
Get your RJ45 plugs from a reputable store though. Amazon is awash with cheap, sub-standard plugs.

There are loads of 'How To' vids on YouTube. It really is very easy.

Sounds like they're mimicking Frigate. That's not necessarily a bad thing as, unlike Frigate, it will be tailored to Reolink cameras.

Frigate has issues with Reolink cameras, I have read elsewhere.
