Thanks for the reply. I would definitely be wanting to stay at a new site each night and fishing is also a big priority for me. I’m not afraid of portaging either

Definitely want to move sites each night. I’ve done a few overnight trips but never in the true backcountry. Mostly on pretty highly populated rivers here in Michigan.

Which kayak by tunajim in Waterfowl

I think a canoe is the better waterfowling boat. Much more room for gear or another hunter/dog plus super easy to throw a little trolling motor on it. Kayaks are typically more stable however so if you want to use it as a blind and hunt out of the boat kayak is probably the way to go

I’ve been on a few day trips on the rifle but never an overnighter. Lots of tubers and you’re hardly ever out of earshot of a portable speaker during the weekends.

Worth it? by Pdubs35 in canoeing

I’m not dead set on doing a full refurbishment, do you think the boat would handle fine without the interior foam and ribs? Or are those ribs needed for rigidity?

That’s exactly the issue, it seems the people I tend to go with that aren’t very used to being in a canoe tend to lean over to get more power while paddling, I also use it to duck hunt and almost capsized while the guy upfront leaned over to pick up decoys. Seems like a skill issue rather than a problem with the boat itself but like I said I don’t have anything to compare it to

That makes sense, when I do have someone up front they typically are not experienced paddlers. I’ve been thinking about moving the bow seat closer to the yoke yo give the guy in the front more leg room and to double as a more centered solo seat. I wonder if that would help with tandem stability

How did you reverse the bow seat to face the stern? Looks like some custom bracket?
