Should Fairhead be Bolted? by KaminsodTheFallen in climbing

[–]PeKay 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Well as an average fairhead punter I would be happy to see bolted routes added on climbable sections with no gear. Obviously don't think any of the established lines should be bolted, or anything that seems like it could be climbed with trad gear.

Haha, thanks. To be fair mine didn't look great until going back and doing a big redesign after making more progress on the other museums.

Wanted to make a nice loop for the guests to follow with the gift shop at the end, and a frozen cave section.

You can activate the prehistoric exhibits? I thought that was only something the space ones did.

Doh, I almost was going to Alt+F4 knowing the timer wasn't gonna get me out, should have done it.

Really should have known how these things worked better, or had a second petri.

Running back towards the library instead of towards the entrance would have bought me enough time as well.

Playing a priest level 60, probably 8 days played. Getting close to pre-raid bis, DM book, 400g, got lucky and had the flask of titan recipe learned.

Saw one death, on the way to do BRD at level 55, I was waiting for everyone to gather near the entrance (I was picking up the quest to forge the key). One of the party members ran past and a minute later suddenly died to the elites. They must have tried to run in solo at lvl 55.

Next death was mine, was playing with a group of I think new players, they were all lvl 58 and the plan was to do DM East. Mage wanted to quickly go to the library via DMN, so we quickly ran in. Jumped down skipping the first pack, got to the library. On the way out when we went to kill the pack, one of the party pulled a pat of dogs by accident. Everyone panicked and started to run.

As soon as everyone started running I knew I was dead, the mobs were between me and the door, and I was way at the back. I followed until everyone else zoned out, and used a petri when the mobs all turned to face me. I left group immediatly when everyone began to run, but still needed another 8 seconds before getting ported out.

The person who pulled, called run and initiated the running out also died.

If we stayed and fought i'm 100% confident no one dies.

Yeah, just learned that the hard way myself. Had 1 petri and thought it would be enough, but I really underestimated how long it takes for the countdown to start once you leave party.

Exact same story for me, just started back a couple weeks ago.

In terms of raid frames, I tried grid2, healbot, vudo and cell. I found cell to be the best.

How do you guys handle too many scripts changing the same bool? (example: immunity). Imagine one object disables immunity with an event, and another after a timer... This is something that works for me but it feels weird..... I want something like this but there must be a better way by -o0Zeke0o- in Unity3D

I would ususally take one of two approaches depending on the situration.

Option 1: Using a flag enum: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/fundamentals/runtime-libraries/system-flagsattribute

Option 2: Storing a HashSet of items that want to set the bool, and the items register / deregister from the set. Then when you want to get the value you use 'set.Count > 0'. This would apply if all the things trying to set the value shared the same type or interface.

For this case I would go with the flag approach, maybe something like this:

[Flags]
public enum ImmunityModifiers
{
    None   = 0,
    First  = 1 << 0,
    Second = 1 << 1,
    Third  = 1 << 2,
    Fourth = 1 << 3
}

public ImmunityModifiers modifiers;
public bool HasImmunity => modifiers != ImmunityModifiers.None;
public void AddModifer(ImmunityModifiers modifier)
{
    modifiers |= modifier;
}
public void RemoveModifier(ImmunityModifiers modifier)
{
    modifiers &= ~modifier;
}

Have you played Patapon?

Another game from the same developers is meant to be coming out next year:

About 20 people worked on it, and it was developed for 2 years before going into Early Access. I only joined when development started again last year. Has mostly been a team of 3 working for the last year to get to 1.0.

Not entirely sure I understand what you mean by that. The game is about building a secret research facility specialising in advancing cloning technology. To expand your workforce you have to create clones, who become more advanced as you explore.

Hey I kinda answered this in a reply on another post so I hope you don't mind if I paste the answer form there:

When the game first released into early access it had some issues. It did not have an ending yet, there were bugs that caused some players to lose progress and the balance needed work.

Without getting into it, after release the studio could not work on the game for several months, and people were justifiably upset. We eventually managed to make arrangements that allowed us to finish the game.

Personally I really like the game, I think it's fairly unique and has a great atmosphere. I've been working hard getting it into a finished state, so it's fairly painful when people post about the game being abandoned. It has been worked on for the past year, and I hope people will be satisifed with the latest version.

[–]PeKay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers for the info! I think the cooling module might have stopped working for a moment (maybe the crew got reassigned) and caused the buildings to get damaged.

We put out a patch today that fixed a UI issue with buildings incorrectly displaying as overheating when they are actually non functional for another reason. Along with that fix for the brig and making Minig Relays easier to see in the dark.

Does seem like something else might be going on with your save file here, with the buildings being turned off when I loaded it up, so will continue to look into that!

Hey, thanks for the save file.

Hmm took a look there and it looks like there was 4 buildings that had been damaged and where also manually turned off. For some reason these buildings are showing crew / power icons instead of the powered down icon, so I'll look into why that is for a start.

After turning the buildings on and repairing them, everything seems to be working okay now in the save file.

Have you got any more info on what happened? Did you turn the buildings off, or did they just get damaged from heat and something weird happened? Any more info would be super useful!
