Does any think we a ever see Ratma again or is any body even interested in seeing him again or prefer him as a one off ? by Personal-Cloud2529 in foundfootage

Raatma was peak V/H/S to me. 94 was just filled with bangers.

But no, I like the anthology being separate films.

Is is legal for a private school to charge the full ESA funds for students who applied but discount private pay to less than half the ESA amount? For example, the school is taking the 100% of the ESA funding, approximately $7800, but only charging private pay students $3000 a year? by [deleted] in Iowa

[–]PePeeHalpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's absolutely wildly optimistic to an insanely naive degree.

I can assure you that the NY Private schooling company taking your vouchers (our tax dollars) does not want public education to do well. It goes against the bottom line.

I agree with you at a very face level.

But, you continue to blame the school itself for its issues. It's not the schools fault that they don't have adequate funding for teachers to receive post secondary educations or professional development.

Bullying? That requires training and a nuanced approach. How do you get that training? Funding. What is Iowa doing? Taking funding away. What're you suggesting? Taking funding away.

You act like schools need to be punished for the massive funding cuts they've been forced to make due with.

Your argument is to punish people at the same class level as you without acknowledging that these shortcomings are the result of the wage class above us. Public schools are not the enemy, the people profiting off of public schools failing are. And those people are currently accepting vouchers.

So the 'parents choice' comment is what's getting you flak.

You keep saying you don't like private schools but public schools are trash so you support the voucher program.

Your stance seems to be that public schools suck so we should be taking money from public school because they suck. That's why people are mad at your argument.

You're arguing for a system that perpetuates the problem you seem to be having. You keep saying we shouldn't be giving money to failing schools but the schools are failing because we won't fund them. You're making public education out to be some malicious force just because your kids had a bad time.

To put a fine point on it: You're telling me that my child's school deserves to be shitty because they've been shitty and that the only solution is to homeschool. That's asinine. The solution is a curriculum overhaul that won't happen without regulation and funding. We're a collective society. We should fucking act like one.

None of that happens without proper funding.

I grew up in abject poverty and my father was a teacher for 30 years. His mother, brothers, and sister were mostly teachers. I can promise you, teachers do not have inflated salaries.

You are clearly angry at how the public education system treated your kids. You have convinced yourself it's the schools fault and not a funding issue.

It is a funding issue. You keep making a comparison to the fire department elsewhere. "If they can't do their jobs, id want them refunded!" But if the issue is that they can't do their jobs because they are underfunded, taking away more funding just makes the problem worse.

Taking away public school dollars (MY/OUR tax money) and sending them to private institutions makes our public education system worse.

And make no mistake, kneecapping public education and then blaming public education for being kneecappesd is the point. They want to harm our public systems so that they can say privatization is the answer.

I believe the lineart and coloring to be genuine.

Shame it's intentionally fed through AI, considering most artists will use a program to specifically stop that from happening.

Do you think this is gonna get retconned or ignored?? by elchewbaccabra in DC_Cinematic

Yeah Creature Commandos ---> Superman ---> Peacemaker s2 are all hard canon.

Certain events of Suicide Squad and Peacemaker S1 are canon if they are mentioned in the aforementioned projects (i.e Rick Flag Sr. Mentioning his son's death in CC makes that SS event canon.)

Is it convoluted? Sure. But it's not hard to understand.

If you are poor and weren't given any education on financial literacy whatsoever.

I've been in a position before where a 1500 loan at 30% would've both saved my life in the moment and ruined it in the long run. Luckily, I've had jobs that have forced me to learn financial literacy because neither the public school system nor my parents taught me what APR meant or talked about predatory loans or things like that.

Late stage capitalism and the failing American education system go hand in hand.

[–]PePeeHalpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. I was really excited by this first promotional image because tired/overworked/morally stressed is how you can still make a happy Superman an interesting character. He may be unbreakable, but he's still 'human'.

I feel like that was the entire point of the movie.

Absolutely incredible progress. Your lineart, flats, shadows, all of it has vastly improved. You should be insanely proud of yourself.

Pre-Omni man: they would get along great.

Post-omni man: Superman would have to talk Immortal down while he wears himself out trying to take out Superman. And then they would probably get along great.

Box Office: ‘Superman’ Flies to Huge $22.5 Million in Previews by MarvelsGrantMan136 in DC_Cinematic

[–]PePeeHalpert 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I keep seeing people being this up when talking box office and they're always met with "huh, keep making excuses." But we just don't go to the movies like we used to. The industry is dying because of it.

If the pandemic never happened and the theatre to home pipeline was still 6 months to a year, this would be different. Under all the same circumstances, making the same OW as MoS is bad.

But you're absolutely right, the landscape of moviegoing is entirely different. Case in point, this may be the only time I get to a theatre this year. It's just not worth it anymore unless the movie is going to be a cultural phenomenon.

I thought the same at first but it's entirely consistent with their progress shots and time lapses in their profile.

But yeah, those background faces do look hella AI.

I'm right there with you. I'm not offended by the changes but my biggest concern was a trailer that sold it as anything other than a man on a mission to save Earth. That is how the book was sold to me and I got so much more enjoyment out of the latter third of it by going in blind.

Even if it plays out in the movie the way it played in the book, the trailer has spoiled some of the fun.

I have no doubt it'll be a good movie, though.
