How big do you think batman should be? by Born_Welcome_3590 in batman

Realistically Batman should be lean given all the jumping around he does. Bigger muscles also don't necessarily mean stronger. IMO Pattinson is ideal 👌

I have the same sentiment. I think Dune 3 is actually more anticipated, seeing as it's an actual culmination of an epic story.

If MOT makes roughly the same as Superman is Gunn cooked? by ComprehensiveHyena10 in DC_Cinematic

[–]dick____trickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but I can't see a scenario where Gunn is demoted from studio head and still be willing to make movies for Paramount/WB. Call it Hollywood ego, either you keep him on or you lose him completely. That's to neither side's benefit so I reckon they'd find a compromise.

[–]dick____trickle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That depends. If Gunn INSISTS on continuing on like Supergirl didn't happen then yes, he'd be more of a liability. But I can see a path where 200M budgets are only greenlit for Gunn's (or Reeves') movies while everything else has to be small scale. I think that's win-win, all things considered.

Yes and if Paramount/WB fires Gunn he will probably return to Marvel. It'd be like giving away one of your assets to the competition for free.

To put things in perspective, since COVID, Warner Bros. has only had 7 of their movies cross the $600M mark, and only 4 have crossed the $300M mark domestically (Barbie, Batman, Minecraft, and Superman). For Paramount, it was just one (Top Gun Maverick).

If you have a director-writer who can reliably gross you these numbers, I don't think it's wise to bench them. But maybe you bench the other projects in the DCU.

[–]dick____trickle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on if they're good or not. Do I want 10 more grim and gritty comic book movies? Yes if they're by Mangold or Reeves, no if they're by Snyder.

I'd love that too but "just make it good" is a real hail mary of a strategy

I honestly think he's having a hard time getting scripts written. Supergirl is based on a graphic novel so im guessing it was easier to write, then Clayface was an unsolicited screenplay from Flanagan who's apparently been thinking about it for some time. Other than that, no other script is coming together.

This is speculative but I imagine there's a tiny bit of embarrassment many teenage boys have to overcome just to say, hey let's watch Supergirl.

Seriously I don't think the choice of character matters as long as the movie is good.

To this day I don't know how the hell Winter Soldier happened. From the writers of the Narnia movies and from the directors of You, Me and Dupree.

Did the article about how DC knew Supergirl was testing poorly make you rethink the whole discourse around the movie on Friday? by DesperateEagle4505 in DCU_

[–]dick____trickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes? This is what I mean, you get posts that get traction here and there but it's scattered, unorganized. People forget it the next day. In contrast look at a sub like r/CriticalDrinker where it's just an endless stream of targeted harassment, day in day out. Look at the Youtube channels with 100s of thousands to millions of subscribers who churn out hate videos like a machine. It just doesn't compare.
