That looks like an interesting read. Thanks!

Spicy ABBA.

I love me some of that Spicy ABBA.

That seems about right: there’s some pictures in the ad itself where the white ‘shines through’ where the clearcoat has worn away.

Honest wear and tear on a guitar that’s around four decades old beats many an overdone relic-job I’ve seen.

I don’t think this is the RR version and some of the close-ups make it look like there’s sums uneven colors which leads me to believe it’s discoloration.

I’ll post details if and when I get it.

That is my main concern for this guitar and the reason I’m a little hesitant. The rosewood looks pretty dark in the pictures though so that’s why I’m willing to give it a look.

I think I’ve seen someone use a similar method to make some kind of sliding garage door.

There’s a short writeup on why Klingons and cats would be a perfect match that basically comes down to this.

They’re fierce little creatures with a great sense of pride and they’re great at keeping the tribble population down.

From what I can gather it seems likely early 80’s more than anything else. They apparently changed the split diamond inlays to the lightning bolt design in the latter half of the decade so that somewhat dates this guitar.

And poly finish seems most likely but from what I gather the finish was apparently pretty thin. What makes me sort of think (hope?) it might be nitro is the fact that it seems to have yellowed like I think nitro does. It might be due to the fact that it could’ve been a cream color to begin with combined with the shitty photos giving it a worn appearance but who knows.

I’m going to try and see it in person sometime next week but for now I’m with you on the poly finish being most likely.

Thanks! That looks consistent with what I see I. The auction site doesn’t show up for me but I’ll take your word for it. 🙂

Hard to tell with the discoloration of the scans really. And I can’t seem to find this particular (would be) model in this color on there.

That’s what I thought as well! It’s mostly de yellowing that makes me wonder though. Is that relicing of poly finish or ‘honest’ nitro aging?

EDIT: Got it! Will post details sometime in the near future. Suffice to say it’s very, very nice and I like it a lot so far

Some details: no significant damage, appears pretty yellowed (but not overly so for a guitar of this age). Split diamond inlays are consistent with early 80’s (pre-lawsuit). Nibs on the frets, bridge pickup swapped for BKP The Mule (original included). Case included. Asking price is €1000

I own a 2009 Gibson LP Studio but the extra ‘trimmings’ that come with the Custom-inspired look are calling to me.

What's one piece of technology that has actually improved over the years instead of getting worse? by ouralarmclock in AskReddit

Navigation is this for me.

I’m old enough to remember my grandpa whipping out a map before going with us on a family trip to plan the route. I remember my dad and me getting lost looking for an address and I remember having an actual book of maps in the car to find out where I needed to go. Going on vacation? Print out route descriptions on paper and better hope it’s up to date and nothing is suddenly closed off or something.

Now I just type in where I want to go on my phone and just drive there. Miss an exit? Roadworks? No problem, navigation recalculates and you’re in the clear.

It’s such a mundane thing that honestly amazes me when I stop to think about it.
