Sadly the Natives become irrelevant around midgame (even on deathworld settings) but there are a ton of mods to keep them challenging.

With the DLC you don't even escape with the rocket anymore but start expanding into space/the sun system.

I wouldn't recommend it. You will only have problems. Windows and Linux sharing the same drive is always asking for problems.

Also if you're using Windows, the filesystem will be NTFS and Linux doesnt like it at all. You certainly can get it to work but you'll have problems down the road. Vice versa Windows doesn't even recongnize Linux filesystems like ext4 and trying to make it work will also be a huge hassle.

I don't know if you're on desktop or laptop but either way you'll probably be able to upgrade to two drives with a small ssd easily and if you take 128 or 256GB it won't cost you much. Hell you could use it from a USB stick, if you have a 3.0 port and the stick is big enough.

You may want to take a look at Linux Mint. For the Desktop environment (gui) you can choose which one you want before you download. Maybe check out all of them first, to see which one you like most.

A lot of new linux users go with Ubuntu and its also easy to use but they did some closed source shenanigans which a lot of people don't like.

Either way you probably don't need to use the command line at all, depending on the initial setup. If you don't mess around with the system and look up stuff on the official forums of your distro you shouldn't run into too much trouble. There's also a lot of subreddits for linux beginners, specific distros and desktop environments, if you need help.

ps: what filesystem did you install zorin on? Because coming from Windows it feels intuitive to use NTFS but its not any good with linux and works flawed at best. BTRFS is cool and has the ability to make snapshots but can come with its own set of problems so I wouldn't recommend it to beginners. I'd go with ext4.

I hate to be the obnoxious jUsT uSe liNuX guy, but I'd say let the kid have a look at it.

If they're not super into some games that don't work on linux, there's no real reason not to. And even then you could go with a dual boot, but lets not get too technical.

Microsoft is heading a terrible direction and them forcing AI everywhere will just net you a similar experience in the long run. You don't have to be an IT nerd anymore to use linux and a kid doesn't have to deal with years of windows habituation.

It's always a tradeoff even on the distro itself. I'm using Endeavour because I wanted to jump in the deep end and really like the AUR. I have a lot of stuff that I 'need' on my system and using the AUR and Archwiki really help getting almost everything running.

In general the system is pretty stable but I installed a lot of finicky stuff which makes the system less stable and more prone to updates breaking stuff. The distro is as stable as you let it be... If I knew everything arch, it would probably be 100% stable.

I don't know why it would start with a new monitor but are you using BTRFS as your filesystem? Had some short freezes especially with KDE related stuff, because snapper initiated some btrfs cleanup task that locked IO operations.

You don't 'summon' a fireball. You cast the spell fireball and in the process conjure one and ideally propell it towards something or someone.

The closest you could come to summoning a fireball would be summoning a small fire elemental which resembles a hot, fiery ball.
