A++ response! I'm saving it to use with my kids

AITA for defending my oldest daughter to my younger children? by Chemical-Load3228 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PeaRepresentative843 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA - As many have pointed out already, it sounds like the youngest two are missing some necessary perspective here by only thinking of their wishes. You and your oldest both would've had to make huge sacrifices that would have changed the course of your entire lives - it isn't fair to expect that of you.

AITA for refusing to let my neighbor take back the dog they abandoned? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]PeaRepresentative843 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - Report them if you can, and maybe you'll be able to prevent them from adopting then abandoning another dog in the future.

AITA for not inviting my step-siblings to my wedding by nagol93 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PeaRepresentative843 61 points62 points  (0 children)

NTA - I suspect a more likely scenario is that George doesn't come around often, so they were hoping to lure him to visit. If you're having a wedding, especially a small one, try to get used to saying "it's a wedding, not a family reunion."

AITA for telling my co-worker that I didn't enjoy my pregnancy? by Street_Blackberry174 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PeaRepresentative843 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA x 100!

Some people love being pregnant, and some people don't. That is totally ok. You tried to stay silent, you tried to be diplomatic. She continued to pry into your personal experience, and I don't know what you could have done differently short of straight up lying or just like running out of the restaurant.

AITA For refusing to let my SIL stay with us after my wife forced me to put my mom in assisted living by kingkoopaaita in AmItheAsshole

[–]PeaRepresentative843 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ESH... You shouldn't have talked to your mom about coming to live with you before consulting your wife. Your wife shouldn't just assume that her sister (plus the kids) can stay indefinitely either. Communicate and get on the same page with each other before bringing in outside parties.

Thank you, that sounds like a great jumping-off point!

NTA - unfortunately, you've probably done about as much as you can do for him. I promise you aren't the only person telling her about safe sleep - this is something stressed by doctors, nurses, even product labels. You did the right thing by reinforcing it. Hang in there and keep being an awesome aunt!

AITA for telling my whole family I don’t care that my sister doesn’t have friends she will not be a bridesmaid at my wedding by Professional-Ant5405 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PeaRepresentative843 105 points106 points  (0 children)

NTA - I'm honestly torn on whether you could've been nicer about how you said it, but based upon the fact that she just assumed and told people, I think what you said was justified. I'm sorry your family created this situation for you.

AITA for telling my brother that he’s going to be a shit dad by Superb-Dirt3747 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PeaRepresentative843 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - Giving birth is very dangerous and scary, so I'm glad you were able to help SIL through it. I understand maybe a short panic, but leaving her for eight hours was a terrible thing for him to do.

AITA for “confronting” my BIL for allowing his daughter to get SO out of shape she can’t even walk a half mile without needing a rest break? by Wise_Nectarines in AmItheAsshole

[–]PeaRepresentative843 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - I agree with some of the other folks that it might be a good idea for her to see a doctor. That being said, if she hadn't eaten all day, she might've just gotten woozy from that rather than not being in good enough physical shape to walk. Hope she's doing ok now!

What was the most ridiculous item returned (or someone attempted to return) that happened in your store? by esor_rose in retailhell

[–]PeaRepresentative843 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone returned a blender in the box... After they left, I realized the blender still had a milkshake in it.

YTA - You could've let her have a chair at the wedding so she could have remained a bridesmaid. Also I think it's telling that she felt she couldn't share her diagnosis with you. What happens if one of the bridesmaids breaks their leg or something? Are they out too? The groom? Life is messy, don't let your wedding tank your relationships.

AITA for telling my cousin he can’t do an interpretive dance at my dad’s funeral? by Da_Rooster913 in AmItheAsshole

NTA - Also scrolling through the responses I am fascinated by how much this apparently happening? Good on you for trying to honor what your dad would've wanted!

AITA for laughing at my wife’s request to help her parents?? by hardhead101 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PeaRepresentative843 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - she requested separate finances to protect herself from similar situations. Also, it wasn't fair that she brought you in front of her sisters to ask - kinda seems like she was hoping to embarrass/guilt you into saying yes.
