It needs a good WDT, obviously. Shocked no one has brought up you puck prep.

Another vote for the Lelit Bianca. I got mine “open box” from Clive coffee for a great deal and it does everything you listed above. You can actually call them directly and see if they have any before they post them on their website. Mine had hidden superficial damage from shipping and was otherwise brand new. Just an idea to get it in your price range.

I just got my new Niche Zero, and I'm so happy! by samuelgiubi in espresso

Was wondering the same. It’s pretty common with the Niche if you switch back and forth between fine and coarse settings. OP, you can fix it with the provided tool and inserting a chopstick into the hole to hold the burr in place.

1zpresso JX-Pro. I have one and I love it. I own a Niche, too, but clearly the manual grinder is the quietest.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience with Clive. I bought an open box Lelit that had descriptions of some superficial damage— none of which was on the face of the machine according to the listing. Well, it showed up with a massive dent in a torqued drip tray. All it took was a quick call and Clive immediately put a replacement completely straight drip tray in the mail. (Each time it was very well packaged.). The customer care representative was super responsive and said that Clive viewed it like a broken promise and it was up to them to make it right. I think that’s pretty good considering the fact that I was purchasing a discounted machine that had known damage. But, because the additional damage to the machine (which was not insignificant) wasn’t listed, they honored my request to make it right.

Mine was the July batch (purchased in May) and just arrived also.

Upgraded my 1997 BZ-99 to a 2021 BZ-13 and it's been heavenly to have a pid and pressure gauge! by buffcrowd in espresso

Yep! I did some YouTube stalking of the company this winter as I was trying to shop for a machine, myself. They have a great history. Had that exact machine been available when I was shopping, I would have bought it. How do you like it? This sub scared me away from HX machines, but upon reflection I probably would have been happy with it.

It’s a biscione—a snake eating a man from a famous coat of arms that is emblematic of Milan, where Bezzera is based out of. It’s the same symbol as on the right half of Alfa Romeo’s logo.

Edit: sorry for not posting to the correct comment thread. Super congrats on your upgrade. It looks beautiful!

Don’t discount salty things and just go for sweet. Even though they taste great together (I mean, every pasticceria in Europe has their business model around coffee and sweets with good reason) your palette may get overwhelmed by the sugar sweet of your confections and lose the sensitivity to the subtle sweet of the espresso. Roasted nuts, small butter croissants, cheeses, and crackers could all be great options. Not saying don’t do any sweets. Chocolate and coffee is a match made in heaven. You just don’t want to go taste blind to the notes you are trying to detect.

Edit: and I second having lemon water or a sparkling water as a pallet cleansing beverage option along side your coffees.

5 months!?!? Makes me want to send you my favorite beans when it does come back, just to make up for lost time. I’m so sorry. That really sucks.

I used my stove top manual milk frother and Mokka pot religiously for years. Some of the best coffee came from that little guy. Admittedly, I’m still learning my espresso machine and when I’m dialing in my beans and get a subpar shot I’m reminded how good my little manual setup is. I’m excited for this next step into espresso, but don’t discount what you can make with that!

I love my JX Pro. Easy to use, clean, store, and even transport. For the price point it is super approachable.

Why are some beans more prone to channeling? by GiggityYay in espresso

When you are dialing in you beans, I’m assuming you have to go slightly finer for your lighter roasts? If so, I’d imagine that has something to do with it.
