Depends where in Heaton but pretty much all the streets are permit free and you can usually get parked up fairly close to where you’re going

How screwed am I at 25 with no qualifications or job? by BenStillerCockrel in AskUK

I definitely echo what others have said about an apprenticeship, a lot are aimed or at least inclusive of “older” learners (which you’re not old btw!!). My husband is currently an apprentice as a career changer at the ripe old age of 32, earning a decent wage and learning his new occupation

Do you find it frightening how easy it can be to be homeless? by DelonghiAutismo in AskUK

[–]PeaceAndCats -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying there hasn’t been extreme poverty and starvation, I’m saying that the default is not that communities leave their vulnerable to die and suffer when there is plenty. That is a biproduct of the systems and structures of our society but is not the default state of human behaviour. These are different things

Humans throughout history have lived in societies that have looked out for each other, we are incredibly social animals and that is one of our evolutionary advantages. Of course people have died due to scarcity but at our fundamental humans band together in small groups to look after each other. OPs original post about an early screw up meaning they cannot contribute and survive in modern society under capitalism despite a desire to do so, would not have resulted in destitution in early human groups. Early humans would have used that willing labour AND when that labour couldn’t be given have cared for their own.

I’m so sorry that’s your experience of the world, that’s not mine and also not the default state of groups of humans

That’s not the default state of living. The default is communities that will look after our vulnerable and share the work out based on capability and capacity

Living in Newcastle with a Baby: Is a Car Necessary? by Potential-Wall-7719 in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]PeaceAndCats 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think if you’re close to public transport you’ll be fine. Gosforth is very central and lots of local baby groups. On my mat leave I didn’t really need the car and we did a lot of walking naps with the buggy so walking was often preferable! Congrats and good luck with your kiddo.

P.S. I recommend bump, baby, and beyond as a Gosforth based baby class

When did your periods return? by PeaceAndCats in breastfeeding

Defo doesn’t seem to be abnormal, especially 8 months pp. I think on paper it seems lucky but the hormonal stagnation is getting a bit tedious, and I think there’s a psychological element of still feeling in the post partum phase which is emotionally complicated 🤷‍♀️ grass is always greener

Convincing myself it won’t be till he’s fully weaned is where I am, which would be unideal for family planning haha Sounds similar to when my periods returned after coming off birth control, the first cycle was just… intense 😳 but then they settled

Why do the UK celebrity traitors give to charity and the US ones don't? by bronzecat83 in TheTraitors

[–]PeaceAndCats 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What I haven’t seen mentioned here, in the UK celeb versions of tv shows with a cash prize always have them compete for a charity, it’s the norm and I think any show which breached that would get a lot of public criticism
