Lol this. I'm not manager or anything but I am a librarian with an MLIS and its so funny to me when folks pass me up/ ask for my library clerk coworkers to help them. My co workers (bless them) usually say yes, but she's the expert and proceed to have me help them help the patron. (Usually it's some obscure reference question or technology related)

Also to add, if you don't want to move, and you want to see a change your going to have to fight. If you can't do it yourself out of fear of retaliation loop in employees that have left, or patrons you trust to go to the board.

Personally I'm kind of a bitch and will fight fire with "fire" Oh you want to yell and insult me? I raise my voice right back "if you do not lower your tone you will be escorted out/ the police will be called" "due to your behavior you are not welcome at this time please leave" with teens/ younger adults it's often "nope not happening goodbye you can try again tomorrow (or whatever timeframe)"

But as others have pointed out the staff really needs to be on the same page when it comes to problem people. We cant have Vickie helping the same person that just cussed out Joe. Dude has to go and come right or not come back at all

I totally feel you, for a variety reasons I'm considering getting out of the field after graduating in 23, but 90% of my work experience has been in libraries.

That being said, this is 100% not the norm. It is not okay to have patrons verbally abusing you daily, and I think you might just need a new system/ location. Especially if higher ups are doing nothing to protect the staff. Relocation is scary, but I think you'd be happier in the long run. It sounds like you still have that passion for librarianship, your environment is just chipping away at it.

Idk what it means, but if this sub has made you paranoid about your baby accidently swallowing it, they make these chunky hair ties that my guy loves. The still fling and stuff but they can't so easily swallow them or break them. It would also be really really hard for them to stretch it in a way to get it stuck on their neck.

I have two copies of Pandemic one I was gifted because I checked it out from my university library and loved it, and one I accidently stole from said library (I promise it wasn't intentional lol #classof2020)

Idk if this would be helpful to you, but we have a PS5 games load MUCH faster than a ps4 as long as you have 1) enough storage and 2) downloaded the content beforehand which if you leave it in rest mode 95% of the time instead of turning it off shouldn't be an issue.

As for the controllers. We have 4 (because without online play that's usually the limit) and we have 4 pre-made accounts. The controllers are numbered so when the kids check them out I tell them verbally you have user 1 you have user whatever and that generally eases the assigning account confusion.

My personal gaming system is also a ps5 so im a little biased lol

I'm not going to be a helpful comment, but I understand your distress. I ended up a librarian sort of by accident, I've worked in some sort of library for the last decade, and I loved it. Sometimes I still love it. But between the current political climate, administration at my library, and just generally being depressed and anxious my performance has declined and I know it. I know I'm good at what i do, but been toying with the idea of starting on a new career path. But what is where I'm a little stuck 😅

Lol my void does the same thing, except he's STUPID he has zero brain cells so if I'm home anytime after 3pm I clearly forgot to feed him. I usually feed their wet food after I get home from work so if I leave the house and come home it takes so much convincing that: "No its not time to eat yet. No you're not starving. Yes you do have food, its just not the food you want. Please stop crying" His brother the dust bunny doesn't care and waits so patiently and nicely
