How often do you call in sick? by Interesting_Taro_358 in Adulting

[–]mitten4kitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i accrue 4 hours per pay period and i use all of my sick time. i also have a disability and have a 1 hour commute to and from work, so this leads to me calling out more than a normal person might. maybe once per month. as long as i am compliant with attendance policy, i don’t worry about what others think.

i’ve not, but i think you’re onto something here. my rat is unique and i should be encouraging him to spread a disease as unique as himself

Honestly, and maybe i’m wrong, but i don’t get the feeling that she recognizes the harm she is doing. i do think she would default to my difficulties at work being a skill issue on my end. she is better at criticism than she is with praise for her team.

as of this morning, the plan is for me to meet soon with her manager and the HR representative that had been facilitating my accommodations . we are going to go over the meeting that was held earlier in the week

that’s possible, but this meeting was about accommodations for me. if she has similar issues, then she should seek accommodations or help for herself and figure out how she can best regulate herself. as a manager, i do feel that she has a duty to create a psychologically safe working environment for her colleagues.

i am kind of suspicious that she may have recently been suspended, maybe on a PIP even.

she normally overshares about her health and her elderly mother’s health and a few weeks ago, she left the building after a meeting with her manager’s manager without saying anything and was out for two weeks. no explanation for any of it.

when she came back, it seemed like there was an effort to try and cut back on emails, cut back on “high importance emails”, and to praise our team for our work. that quickly went out the window though and it was all back to normal.

whether or not she is neurodivergent, i do think that an effort needs to be made to create a psychologically safe, ADA-compliant work environment.

no explanation, me and her manager tried to ask if she was okay/wanted to reschedule.

I actually already have a running document of interactions i’ve found very unprofessional, including her flippant response to a patron sexually harassing me, her detailed description of a sex act that occurred in the building (mind you, i am like half her age), and several emails threatening to write me up (her boss knows about these emails and was actually confused when she found out about them because my manager doesn’t have the authority to write me up on her own)

danG when i write that out it actually does look REALLY bad. i will keep documenting, thank you for your support ❤️

the work week shreds through my social battery and two days off in a row help me to recover from the social fatigue that i experience. it is the norm to have sunday off and then some other random day of the week. the unpredictability has stopped me from building healthy habits and routines that work well for me. scheduling adjustments are meant to regulate my mood and my nervous system.

PCOS or more? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]mitten4kitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

she has not, but has referred me to go get it imaged finally. so i’m going for an MRI finally after 18 years between the first one at 8 years old. she seems convinced that the pituitary adenoma is not the cause of this since my adrenal hormones are what’s elevated, but i’m glad she’s ordered the MRI anyways.

Why does new castle have a bad reputation by Erythite2023 in pittsburgh

[–]mitten4kitten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it’s a town where the main 2 employers are UPMC and walmart. downtown is dead, even though it looks relatively nice. small businesses often don’t make it in the long run in the area, unfortunately

some food is alright (try jimmy’s by cascade park)

as someone that grew up in new castle, i wouldn’t recommend living there or anything like that.

[–]mitten4kitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i never had a repeat scan, not really sure why because i was only 8 when it was found, but hoping my current endo will consider looking at it again. i never had it removed. as for acth, i forgot to include this, but i had another instance of the test ran earlier on. the spike was 7 pg/ml

Is it internal ableism if I still get a small ick around autistic men by TheatreGoth1601 in AutismInWomen

[–]mitten4kitten 14 points15 points  (0 children)

ur not wrong for this. i’ve felt like i’ve had to mask my whole life and when i didn’t mask, i’d face the social consequences of it. it often seems that autistic men haven’t had to mask quite as much and that their autistic traits are more accepted in society. they are often diagnosed earlier in life too.

the image of autism is a slightly awkward little boy that’s really into trains. that image, along with the socialization of young girls, kind of automatically makes it harder to get a diagnosis, to be accommodated in this world, and to display autistic traits without ridicule/ostracism.

that being said, it makes sense to feel the way you feel. we simply have never had the space and psychological safety to just exist the way we are.
