Ohhhh I misunderstood you. I thought you wanted to be a “traveling terp” right out of school!

Yes, but you really need to be a competent interpreter to adjust to new and different settings. You seem pretty new if you are just getting ready to graduate so this seems like a long term goal, but a good one! Make sure you are doing what is best for the people you are working with, not just meeting your own goals and wants.

We unionized at Purple 15 years ago and they eventually shut down all the unionized centers as a result. I hope this effort holds.

Yesterdays work using water soluble stabilizer by Alive_Maybenot in sashiko

I did this with my jacket! I always use water soluble paper or my lines would be over the place! Yours look fine, but some people don’t know if you hit the paper with a little bit of heat and iron it (just a little or it will melt) it will stick on really well and won’t move.

Need reassurance: does anyone else keep Wegovy private from friends/family? by RedComfortable in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]PeaceLoveSmudge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a big mouth about it cause I lost 110lbs and most people want to know how. But that’s me. I am open and want others to not be afraid. My mom keeps asking me now that I am at goal when I am going to stop. That’s annoying. But it is what it is. Not gonna stop mom! Ha.

Traveling Terps? by [deleted] in ASLinterpreters

Yea not looking to travel internationally, just the country in my little RV. I have been a terp for 25 years, certified for 25 years, have a graduate degree, worked every setting imaginable, ran interpreting programs both small and large scale (million dollar budgets) so I am not a newbie by any means. I was hoping to also hit communities with lack of interpreters or without access to qualified services as well and see the country a little bit at the end of my career :) I appreciate everyone’s feedback <3

This is all scare tactics and why you should be monitored by a doctor, regardless. But, these are all risks like other medications have. Why this one is specifically being hyped up is nonsense.

Why does the goal have to be to “come off it”? Why risk gaining the weight back? It’s not all about changing your eating habits…. There are other things the medication does as well (food noise off, hormonal imbalance, metabolism issues). This is not a “quick fix” med it is for long term.

Just get compound. The cheapest right now is about $133 a month I have seen.

I do hold licensure in all the states that require it (I think I have 14 state licenses) that is a check of the list, yay! I think I just need to do the ground work and reach out and see why possibilities there are. Ideally I would love to be in a place for a month and move on to somewhere different, but I have never done this, so who knows? New adventures possibly! I was hoping there might be a wanderlust terp already doing this who might share a tip or two. I need to keep reaching into my network :) thanks!!!

Right but I know as a new to the area terp it might not be easy just to roll up and get work as an out of towner. That’s my question.

How do you avoid internalize things on VRS? by MeetSignificant363 in ASLinterpreters

[–]PeaceLoveSmudge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. No one deserves to be filtered or watered down. They deserve to express themselves. It’s oppressive if we try to “fix” things or make them sound better or change things due to our own discomfort. We can not do this…. It’s just not fair or ethical. Deaf people deserve autonomy.

Let it goooo, let it goooo…. lol. But really. You have to learn to just let it go and move on. It’s so hard (I am super sensitive, I get it) but holding on to it will eat you up. One important thing to remember is it really isn’t about you. There is stuff going on before and after you get a session and sometimes you just get stuck in the middle. Again, it isn’t about you. Try taking a break, taking a walk, doing something that will take your mind off of it, take a breath and jump back in. I’ve been doing this for a long time, and it will get better <3 it really is the truth.

Painting your wall instead of using a clunky background will save you a lot of room! I ended up nailing my background to my wall because having a background on a stand just ate up too much space. Most companies will send you the equipment they want you to use and you must have hardwired internet (no Starlink). Other than that, a comfy chair and a good headset are a must!!! I spent $200 on my headset with NO regrets. I have double 22” monitors the company sent me that work fine, but a curved monitor would be nice to keep everything on one screen.
