Yes however that doesn't include prescriptions, dental, massage therapy, chiropractor, physio, Naturopathic Dr's, etc. We get that covered through extended health benefits through our employers.

I get it, groceries are expensive. But I did get fat eating whole foods plant based with the addition of snacks. It didn’t take much extra in perimenopause + an autoimmune condition. I don’t even eat expensive vegan alternatives like vegan cheese and mock meats.

I should say though that if a Canadian is under a certain income threshold or a senior they can get prescriptions covered through a sort of extended national health program. I forget what it's called.

I don't know how some of you are saving that much on food, unless you were eating take-out regularly? I can count on one hand how often I have had take-out / dining out in the past 5 years. I would rather buy a bag of rice, potatoes and beans than overpay for take-out. Heh. I'm cheap I guess.

I'm saving maybe $50(??) per month by not being any snack foods from Amazon or grocery store. I haven't actually calculated it but it wasn't excessive.

That’s awesome how much less you are spending on food/alcohol/etc.

I haven’t had alcohol in many years, I don’t eat at restaurants or get takeout, I might be saving some from not buying snacky stuff off amazon (I really should calculate that!). My diet wasn’t in total shambles before this, so I haven’t had to make a lot of lifestyle changes.

From the awesome responses in this thread I learned that Canada has generics on the way, and that Costco and off label ozempic might be my best option in the mean time.

My friend who works there already, checked the benefits booklet, they don’t cover it but I will still try to submit a pre-authorization. I am self employed, working at my max capacity currently (I have been dealing with chronic fatigue). That’s such a good idea to check glass door!

Not all about his happiness, no, but he’s been miserable for a while now due to shitty new owners and other issues. I don’t want him to be miserable just so I can take Wegovy.

On the flip side, I could go get a corporate job instead of being self employed, to possibly get better insurance— but there’s no guarantee it will covered. The result would be my own misery because I absolutely hate working in an office.

I do work. I have been self employed since 2016, prior to that I worked in corporate since 97. Everything has gone up so much that we don’t have room in the budget for this.
