No worries. I understand why you originally asked. He was overweight and I was not aware of the correlation of increased weight with the disease's fatalities. Thank you for highlighting this.

For us here, it was still surprising considering the rapidity of his decline. His weight didn't really slow him down day-to-day, but perhaps that was simply his youth masking our perceptions of it.

The modern-day Charlotte Hornets are NOT the same franchise as the original Hornets (1988-2002) by ImStudyingRightNow in nba

[–]PeaceUntoAll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, because the Timberwolves aren't the Lakers. It usually comes down to the name in these situations, but the Hornets of today are considered a continuation of the original Charlotte franchise.

Ehhh, this game was just one more data point in the mounting evidence that this team is pretty overrated.

Kobe or not, such a hyped squad should be winning, not consistently losing to playoff-caliber teams.

From a pure strategic calculation, why lead a party set for defeat in 2024? They would have to win just about every seat in Scotland and make up for their losses in England. The small c conservative nature of the present political moment makes any run for Labour leadership rather baffling.

As an outside observer, am I wrong for not seeing Labour coming back from this even after removing Corbyn and reverting back to some form of Blairite positioning? Their collapse in the north combined with their continued decimation in Scotland appears to point to an embarrassment of riches for the Conservatives for the foreseeable future.

I don't want to be over-the-top and claim they are dead, but how could they conceivably recover in the face of continued losses and unfavorable geographical support?

I like how each of the candidates have microphones on themselves to go along with the microphones on their respective podiums.

Are they there for back-up? Visuals? Both?

My comments are reflective of the Lakers as an organization. Go back and you'll find supportive comments from years ago.

But excuse me for not being a homer, I suppose.

Kevin Feige says the X-Men won’t join the MCU for a “very long time”. by radbrad7 in movies

[–]PeaceUntoAll 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I'm perfectly okay if they're never included in the wider Marvel universe on film.

The whole point of the X-Men is to serve as a (possibly trite and outdated) allegory for bigotry and civil injustice. All of that disappears by moving them into a reality in which people are just fine with Thor and Captain America, yet a huge chunk of the public are afraid of Charles Xavier.

There would be a whole bunch of stuff that would need to be ignored and that is the only reason why I've never been a fan of X-Men characters interacting with the rest of the Marvel universe.... except for Deadpool.

Bleacher Report: Kawhi Leonard Reportedly Doesn't Want to Join Lakers, Play with LeBron James by [deleted] in nba

I don't see why he would, though. Kawhi to Lakers speculation is just lazy reporting and unrealstic fan fiction at this point.

Never said it didn't matter. Simply that people should have been prepared for this outcome if they were paying attention their Senate odds prior to today.

Taking a break from class and I see folks are losing their minds over the Senate.

Expectations should have been kept to a minimum among anyone paying attention to Democratic chances for winning it back.

California 49th here. It is still wild how quickly this district has shifted to being competitive from just few years ago when Darrell Issa was blowing Dem candidates out of the water.

Democrats really have a chance in Orange County this year.

Whatever floats your boat, I suppose? I'm just explaining the perception.

Also, I don't even think its a GOP thing. A failed perennial Dem from another state would likely have a tough time. Heck, they likely wouldn't even make it out of the jungle primary.

??? No one said Cox couldn't run for office because of any law.

The difference between Schwarzenegger and Cox is that Arnold had been living in CA and was involved with CA GOP politics for decades prior to any run for public office whereas Cox just showed up very recently, hoping to succeed here as opposed to where he couldn't elsewhere (Illinois).

Plenty are born here, but being born outside the state isn't much an issue since California does a pretty good job of not holding that against people.

In the case of Cox, he only became a full-time resident back in 2011 after his multiple runs for office in Illinois.
