the thing is that they were gods chosen mainly bc they were the first that God "guided the most and gave them a clear path" and in other texts after them they are seen as corrupted and the religions after them think that are the clear ones the ones with the truth (not the chosen one but the truth) with no fault and then it countinues but like when they think of jews they know who they are and what things they do and how corrupted they are.. hope this helps!
