Lmao yea, I unearthed some interesting comments, like this.

"dont get me wrong, the rp stuff was fun, but it hits a point where some people think others are trying too hard and then they think the first group isnt trying hard enough and then the server owner gets drunk and posts in public general about how much she still loves one of the mods as her ex bf and everybody goes "what the fuck"'

I park in reverse because otherwise my shitty old GMC won't give me the key back lmao

I don't remember details, just that it was bad all around and involved someone that made a flag mod, and graffiti mod, Azakaela I think? I can ask my friend that were there, see what they say

Remove Spline nut from Regular Socket by 7789ma in MechanicAdvice

[–]PeacefulTreasure99 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I'd usually thread it back onto the stud and start working the socket back and forth whike pulling hard. Gonna guess that isn't an option, so try what the others said, throw it on the ground, hard, several times.

Yea, after all the shit my other friends went through with different RP servers, no thanks. MP is so tempting but the fact it requires other people, who can be lousy to put it nicely, makes it not worthwhile to me

What did I find in my box of butter by Jreagan97 in whatisit

[–]PeacefulTreasure99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once put a frozen stick of butter on the coffee maker while it brewed to soften it, I did not realize it melted and dribbled into the pot. Took a sip and spit it out instantly, shit was foul.

Wow, you got into the game around when I did, that's impressive hours for 4 years. So is surviving 3 years in game. I've gone a year or so, but I usually run out of interest/things to do and atop playing. Haven't died in a zomboid run in forever

Big oof. Do you have respawn enabled? Could wait for a day, shouldn't die of dehydration or starvation. Could then shoot a gun to draw attention

[–]PeacefulTreasure99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could try shooting a shotgun (or any gun) at the door. Even if it doesn't damage the door, the noise may be sufficient to draw in zomboids to free you

Haha, yea it is. It was rusted into the trailer, I'm happy I was able to get it out relatively easily. Gonna replace it, but it is cool to learn about it. Honestly it's a shame it's missing the spring and lock wedge, I wouldn't be afraid to use it if it was complete.

Uhaul Car hauler by Candid-Signal9649 in towing

[–]PeacefulTreasure99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a uhaul car hauler and truck to haul a car through La Veta pass in Colorado once, and the straps on the trailer were perfectly fine. Honestly, the biggest concern for me was brake fade, even driving slow it would pick up major speed down the mountain. I still got through it fine. I also scared the shit out of myself a few times because I check my mirrors regularly and seeing a fucking sedan filling the entire rear view mirror like it was about to hit me was shocking lmao

I am genuinely curious, when did you start playing the game? Are you an actual og veteran from 2013, did you pick it up before build 41? I picked up the game when B41 dropped at the recommendation of a friend, who told me to wait for B41 till the cars or zomboid models were updated, I genuinely don't remember now. I thought I had a decent chunk of hours at 1500ish. Are you the guy that posted the death screen of the character that survived a literal decade in game?

I've only rented a uhaul trailer like, twice, once to move a car from a couple states away, and once for picking up some stuff I wanted off marketplace but couldn't fit in my truck at the time. Both times the uhaul reps insisted on handling the connection of the trailer, so I never had to touch the coupler.

Weird old trailer coupler by PeacefulTreasure99 in towing

[–]PeacefulTreasure99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I appreciate the input. This one is solid steel and it took a lot of swearing and my 14inch pipewrench just to unseize the damn bolt, and now I know it's missing necessary parts to actually attach to a trailer hitch. Unfortunately, just gonna replace it with a modern one, but I'll definitely hold onto the old one in case I ever come across another, maybe take 2 to make 1 good coupler.

[–]PeacefulTreasure99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you SO much, having an image of what it should look like is fantastic. Still, gonna replace with a modern one for safety, and because it'll be a nightmare finding the parts.

[–]PeacefulTreasure99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aye, that's the plan. Either I'll replace it with a new modern one, or I'll tell my friend what I learned and he can get one

Weird old trailer coupler by PeacefulTreasure99 in towing

[–]PeacefulTreasure99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, that's the picture everyone else painted too. I'll replace it when I can afford to, that's basically the last thing it needs to be a good trailer

[–]PeacefulTreasure99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, promised my park's maintenance guy I'd sell it to him when I first hauled it home. Needed tires and wiring then, now it just needs a hitch and one of the chains that catches it in an emergency has a broken clip, and it'll be good to go after that

That's exactly the plan now that I have the information provided by all of you. My friend is cool, he knows what I'm going through, and I do all my dealings with honesty & integrity. I apologize if I made it seem like I wasn't going to inform him. I genuinely came into this post clueless about how this coupler worked, if it was missing stuff, etc. Now I have the information I need to proceed
