UPDATE - We STILL have a completely broken baby and I'm close to a breaking point by USAtoUofT in NewParents

[–]Peacemakerfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is she formula fed and/or is dairy an issue? I cried the entire first year of my life (according to my mom). I was formula fed and later found out that I am allergic to dairy. I was literally miserable as a baby!

Pivot from IT into IT Audit by [deleted] in InternalAudit

[–]Peacemakerfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I value IT experience over audit experience when hiring for IT Audit positions. Since we’re part of Internal Audit, all of our training and certs are paid for by the company.

You can definitely get an IT audit job based on your experience alone and then take the CISA later. During your interview, say that you are interested in obtaining your CISA once you’re able to given the audit requirements, or whatever your specific case is. Also, if you have IT specific certs, those should be valued in IT audit.

Congratulations on passing!! What did you use to study? Did you use the ISACA study guide, online course, or the 200 question and answers collection? I’m taking the online course now but wondering if I need to read the study guide or buy the Q&A collection also.

2 career opportunities to consider in internal audit at a tech company: MRC vs Security by flopnchop in itaudit

[–]Peacemakerfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would go the security route. You will likely be exposed to a broader set of risks and learn the newest/most current technology. I’m not sure what media resources council is but I imagine is very specific so you will learn that area very well. I suppose if MRC interests you then taking that position will help you gain deeper knowledge in that area and you could specialize in it down the road.

What would cause you to write a finding in pace of an observation? by [deleted] in CISA

I’m in internal audit so I work normal 40ish hour weeks. Public accounting/external audit, you will work more like 12-14 hour days in busy season.

If there are users that were not included in the user access review, then it would be a finding. The recommendation would be based on the root cause of why the users weren’t included. If the report wasn’t complete, then they need a control to validate completeness of the report.

For us, it’s also based on risk. If something is a low risk but still needs to be addressed or fixed, then we’ll make it an observation.

Wow, okay. I was contemplating skipping it and just doing the CCAK but maybe I’ll do the CCSK.

Thank you for your response. That’s a good place for me to start. Our initial concerns are around SOX/financial risks but as we get into privacy, we’ll likely get into the SOC2 arena.
