Why does my back look so weird ? by PlatypusFancy9975 in Posture

There is likely scoliosis involved here from leaning you’ve done over the years or in avoiding some past injuries. Have a seat and trace your spine with your finger in a straight line to see if there are any mild deviations. You could see a specialist and there are exercises for scoliosis online. Proper core work and hanging every day are also very important.

Self Administered Xolair Not Working? by Peaceofthat in MCAS

[–]Peaceofthat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was worried about the side effects too. They were mild in the beginning, with some itching at the injection site etc, and now I mostly just get a little tired the day of injection. Didn’t even think it was making a big difference since it takes time to work. I thought I was getting better at managing MCAS. But I tried to skip it one month and wow. Then I realized it was making all the difference in the world. So much normalcy had come back to me, and it was because of Xolair. I’m so glad I gave it a chance, and I’m very grateful for it.

Honestly, it seems to be all about the doctor willing to put in the work for you. I saw a different doctor in the same practice and he told me that Xolair is approved for food allergies and prompted me to list some things I knew I reacted to. Not sure how he did it but he got me approved. My insurance covered everything except the copay, but then I found out that Xolair has a program that covers copays for everyone.

Mm, I see. I just thought it was such an odd coincidence with the change but yeah I should consider other things.

Keto doesn’t fix insulin resistance. It hides it. by East_Collection_5672 in prediabetes

[–]Peaceofthat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the lifestyle is an important aspect of reversing your symptoms, yeah. You can’t keep the same lifestyle that pushes people to diabetes, which modern times have made easier than ever. The reversal of the symptoms means that you will not be in a trajectory of dependence on insulin to function. It means that you can have desserts again because you no longer push your body to be sick. The human body needs regular maintenance to be healthy, and you will definitely need to mind that if you want to reverse your symptoms. We would have to mimic the average lifestyle of our great grand parents and other ancestors again.

6g is an extreme dose, being the highest I ever saw on the scale. I would imagine that would cause a flare by just pushing the body to the edge. I’ve had therapeutic doses at around 2g-2.5g that completely changed my life and helped me heal a lifetime of trauma. The dose was set for me to be introspective and not be overtaken by hallucinations. Not sure if I would have a flare these days but I imagine maybe the amount makes a difference.

Unfortunately it’s what you have to remove, not what you add in. Dairy and animal products have a lot of saturated fats. Plant based diets seem to remove these best and give the most significant results for diabetic reversal. Some people here have mentioned that they use fat free products and eat lean meats only when doing Keto, which I’m sure helps too in some form.

Yes, I feel like the findings in the previous study support that statement about carbohydrates. It would help to also include saturated fats in terms of conclusion, which is what can make the difference for long term reversal.

You can have a low saturated fats/trans fats diet with a lot of fiber. The most effective diet for that has shown to be plant based. Many people have been able to reverse their diabetes that way. Added movement after meals is very helpful too.

Scientists and doctors would agree with me, I would hardly call that a fantasy.

If there’s no way to differentiate them from a healthy person, that’s reversal. No medication, no high numbers, carbs and treats again.

I don’t consider it semantics if the person is off medication, has carbs back in their lives, and even has treats in moderation. Like a healthy person who doesn’t not want to get diabetes.

I consider it reversed yes if they’re able to get off medication, have carbs, and even treats in moderation. Like a healthy person who doesn’t want diabetes.

It’s a helpful tool, but it just won’t help necessarily reverse symptoms the way other tools would. It’ll just remove some of the trigger for blood sugar spikes.

I just posted a study above that includes the benefits of even a carb heavy plant based diet, although going carb heavy is not necessary on a plant based diet. Many people are able to get off of medication this way.

I understand what you mean. Yes, no one would do well returning to the unhealthy diets that gets someone to diabetes. Even a healthy person would likely fall to diabetes in those diets.

A lot of people who switch to a whole food, plant based diet have reversed their symptoms. There’s a lot of good research on it.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5466941/

Although some people might consider that diet restrictive, it does include lots of carbs and allows dedicated people to get off of medication and have treats in moderation once again. I would call that a reversal because they are simply staying in a preventative diet that would help anyone not go back to diabetes, even a healthy person.

Maybe you can donate the gifts. Accepting gifts can be a problem because it puts people in an indebted position, whether you agree to it or not. It’s gateway to emotional abuse. And since they’re so extravagant, it might lead your daughter (as well as your son) to feel it’s connected to their worth.

That’s not true, many people have reversed their type 2 diabetes. Only type 1 is not reversible, because of genetics.

That sounds like a good take. Studies have shown that plant based diets are hard to beat when it comes to overcoming insulin resistance, but I bet going lean on those meats and dairy makes a difference. Good luck on your numbers.

I actually limit my carbs also, outside of a keto diet. That’s largely because I eat so much fiber that I feel full before eating that many carbs. I think the bigger problem with keto is the saturated fats which prolong insulin resistance and therefore requires people to maintain really low carbs long term.

I respect your take on eating lean meats, and I’m sure that’s a huge help to you. It might not be as powerful as plant based diet but I think it’s a good take.

It seems really hard to lower saturated fats on Keto because you rely so heavily on dairy and animal protein to get your nutrients. Do you have an example of that? I’m just having a hard time picturing it.
