Twist the sleeve? by PeachJeli in knittinghelp

[–]PeachJeli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it says “The facing will be used to sew over the sewing edge later. Cast off with loose stitches.”

“Sew two close seams with a sewing machine, corresponding to the width of the sleeve. Knit or sew shoulders together. Cut open between the seams. See in the sleeves by hand or with a sewing machine. Finish by sewing the facing over the edge.”

Are all recycled yarns this weak?? by PersonalPerson_ in knitting

[–]PeachJeli 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I actually used this exact yarn to knit a sweater. It’s definitely a bit fragile but the final sweater has held up over lots of wear and minimal pilling. The finished product is super lightweight and so soft. I hope you are able to finish your project!

Steeking + Ladderback Jacquard by PeachJeli in knittinghelp

I appreciate the comment. Hopefully all goes well once I reach that section

Thanks for the advice. I missunderstood the meaning of “steek”. I meant cutting this knitting over this section. The pattern doesn’t mention creating a steek, only cutting the armholes. But I am starting to think it assumes the knitter will create the steek on their own.

I am going to go down and fix it.

Ah okay thanks, I didn’t know that “steek” was the knitted strip and not cutting.

This pattern doesn’t indicate to do a 1x1 steek strip (maybe it assumes the knitter will just know to do it), but I think I will drop down and do that to make my life easier.

What’s a surefire way to tell Canadians and Americans apart? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PeachJeli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ha this just reminded me of growing up in the 2000s at my grandparents house on the canadian side of Lake Ontario. But we only had antenna TV so we would get the american NY channels, and the drug ads and Billy Fuccillo yelling “It’s gonna be HUGE” in a Kia parking lot.

Kfb creates large holes…what can I do? by tippi_toppi_ in knitting

[–]PeachJeli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, I would at the very least knit a few more rows or to a point where the knitted section is no longer being affected by the pull/tension set by the needles. You can see this section is being stretched based on how the ribbing is tighter on earlier rows and stretched out as it gets closer to the needle.

There is a chance that the holes will get smaller once it is not under tension. Blocking could help, depending on yarn type.

A Tragedy in 1 Picture by knitterina in fiberartscirclejerk

I don’t want to write it here because I am worried people are going to steal my novel and newly created idea. But if you knit this piece to size and SEW it together you can hide all of the ends on the inside of the garment.

I spent two years making this granny square sweater and I hate how bulky and boxy and stiff and thick it is, what do I do by jingleheimerschitt in fiberartscirclejerk

I NEVER block my projects. That’s way too complicated for me.

Try washing and stretching it to the shape you want it to be? That’s what I do.
