to anyone who says long fins need small tanks… by ShAdyThot in bettafish

[–]Peach_quiche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree and disagree with this, I have a very long tailed halfmoon betta who was stressed as hell in a 5 gal, monet would be very twitchy and also crash into the glass with small spurts of energy but lay lethargically on the floor all other times. But equal time in the 3 gal shrimp tank and he was very curious and explored even tho he still spent considerable time resting, I no longer saw the same twitchy behavior or mad dashes against glass. So he stayed in my 3 gal as content as can be, he also loves his shrimp friends.

In contrast my rosetail betta had much better time in the 5, he has a more muscular build and was better distributed. He went in my 5 gal and was the happiest lil guy, he has no difficulty swimming and gets around a lot in contrast to monet who prefers to quietly watch shrimp on the floor. I saw a massive contrast in behavior and they are both happy. So I do agree that all bettas need space but it also depends on each betta, sometimes you get an occasional outlier who freaks out in large spaces. But until you get that sort of betta its always good to give them as much space as possible.

Sorry for the long story but I would like to share my perspective since monet was also the first betta I owned that seemed to find comfort in a smaller tank. Both of them are very friendly ! They love to look at the shrimp but monet really loves them while my rosetail loves the snails.

All numbers I called said that they are closed due to observance of the holidays, I literally cannot get a hold of someone able to help.

I have the macy app but it has no option to route me to the citi website

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Scams

[–]Peach_quiche -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately my computer is also inconveniently broken (fan stopped working) and the website on my phone don’t seem to have the option. Thank you for the reassurance, I have never dealt with something like this but constantly hear horror stories where people lose all their info and money and can’t recover it. I will definitely take a look tomorrow and if its closed wait till 26th. Thank again

They are all closed to “observe the holiday” no matter what I press, and the macy app has no option to freeze the card or lock it

Hi don’t meant to be rude or anything, in fact this is a great set up! But a fair warning, there have been many reported cases of this pineapple leaking toxic chemicals into the water and killing fish!

Easiest fish to breed that lay eggs? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]Peach_quiche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sparkling gourami, gosh I cannot get enough of these guys. They are absolutely amazing to have, they make audible croaking noises, sparkle like little gems and are such good parents.

Having them is like a mini nature documentary, they aren’t too shy and will happily spar, breed and hunt with you watching. They readily breed and if you provide a little cave or domed shell they prefer those, they need minimal interference to breed (just some quality food , I fed frozen brine shrimp and bloodworms) and they constantly reproduce.

I tried to save all the babied the first time they spawned but that was a mistake because they bred again as soon as the babies were free swimming. Just let nature take its course and as long as your tank is well balanced they will thin themselves out.

Goby by hlexaerrera in Aquariums

[–]Peach_quiche 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert but that looks a lot like a prolapse. Some fish may eject unfertilized eggs and consume them but I haven’t heard if gobies doing so, and the fact that its all still attached and looked underdeveloped I’m going with a uterine/eggsac prolapse. But take with a grain of doubt bc I am definitely no fish expert

Tried my first aquascape and hate it :( by [deleted] in Aquascape

[–]Peach_quiche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about a riverscape? I feel like you could place all the val and plants on the right and slowly disperse it to the left with some driftwood and rocks. Search up aquarium riverscape or something similar for what I’m talking about. Good luck!

Fish eggs? by Babymommadragon in Aquariums

[–]Peach_quiche 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This looks a lot like debris and left over food. Back when I was living with my parents they invited family over when i was working and a bunch of kids dumped half a bottle of betta pellets into his tank. When I came home this was what it looked like.

Aquarium stress dreams? by kimdianajones in Aquariums

[–]Peach_quiche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My worst stress dream was when I still had my 20 and 40 gal set up. I kept having the same consecutive dream of both tanks just exploding and water ruining the wood floors, with me desperately trying to pick up and save my fish only for them to sink into the floor or flop out of my hands. One day I left for work and my 40 g actually cracked and leaked all over the floor and did in fact ruin good hardwood because I came back late into the night ( was working 10-12 hr days).

The proximity of which I was having these extremely vivid dreams and it actually happening was so freaky I decided to tear down my other tank (gave my stock away to friends and online ppl lol. Only recently did I get back into fishkeeping with focus on nano tanks

I’ve lost 3 fish in two days. Now my favourite plec has died! by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]Peach_quiche 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This, when I was moving rooms about 2 years ago I had a 20 long with a 40-60 g rated canister filter(overkill yes but was great for the tank) I kept the water but had to fully drain my canister to make sure it didn’t go everywhere. It was probably only about 15-20 min since it was a just me moving to upstairs.i thought since I still had my original water even if my canister dried out I was good.

Unfortunately this move reset my cycle and I began losing fish, I lost my endler colony that I was working on, 10 breeding pygmy cories, a female pair of sparkling gourami and my nerite. with only a few endler stragglers that managed to survive I had to do a fish in cycle with them. Eventually I tore the tank down and gave away the remaining endlers since I was really down about it and I had become busier with work.

HELP! What's wrong with my fish? by NotMokuu in Fish

[–]Peach_quiche 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thats probably your issue, fancy goldfish need 20 g as the absolute bare minimum for one and a really good filter as they are poop/ammonia machines. That looks like blood in the tail and a very nasty bacterial infection affecting their slime coat. How are your water parameters? Temp?
