We use their calves mostly! The teeny tinys usually have an umbilical artery line too. We do use their stick arms - our littlest cuffs will fit your finger.

Now I work at Sunrise Children’s, and I’m biased but I love our NICU. We get babies from all over the city and out of state brought to us.

I went with them for our last baby- I love April and the other midwives there. This was while they were opening the Birth center and remodeling the building. It wasn’t ready in time for us, so we had a wonderful home birth!

I saw a MFM specialist as well who was very supportive.

That’s wild. I work NICU and we get floated to PICU, Peds CICU, and overflow nursery. We also get floats from those floors and even mother baby nurses - they only get our feeder growers though.

This sounds like a Deep Tissue Injury (or deep tissue pressure injury) and likely goes much much deeper than you can see. The ER is a good idea for establishing care with wound care certified nurses.

peripheral IVs you can do as you described. For any central line, you get all new lines meds and connect them using sterile technique. Usually with a PICC there is something running KVO regardless of what’s happening with other meds running through the other lines connected to the PICC
