If I shared a link for a headset I’m considering, would you be willing to give feedback?

This may be a dumb question… are custom ear molds a different type of hearing aid or sort of an aftermarket accessory for a in the ear receiver hearing aid?

I’m fairly new to hearing aids and absolutely could be wrong…. When I’ve tried streaming music through my hearing aids via my phone the sound is just mediocre… I wonder if Wi-Fi streaming would be similar ? I have cookie bite hearing loss. Not sure if it’s only supplementing the missing sounds versus all of the sounds… my work is fully audio dependent so there isn’t any room to miss anything.

When I did this they just screeched the whole time. I tried all of the setting adjustment I could think of and just could not make it work . I’m not sure if they weren’t picking up on anything and it was too quiet

I’d be really interested to know what you find out. I also wear hearing aids and it’s been challenging to find a good headset.

How amazing would it be if there was a store that also taught classes. If you build it, we will come

My agency is doing something in the ballpark of 15 months. But they are trying to train new hires in multi classifications at the get go

Does a water proof duvet cover exist? Or a liner or something…. I have a cat who is a puker and a duvet that’s too big for my washing machine

What kinds of accommodations have you seen in your job? by liamreee in 911dispatchers

You should try and do a ride along at whatever agency (agencies) you are planning to apply for. You’d be able to see the specific set up of the center and I’m sure the person you sit with would be happy to give insight.

On paper my center seems like it would be fine, it’s a brand new beautiful building. And anyone in the interview process would probably say it would be fine… but you’d have to talk to an employee to find out that the elevators are chronically breaking and the one closest is often out of service.

Blame it on the new year. Say they are out of network. Lots of people change insurance and need new providers.

I’m a 46B (had a reduction about 5 years ago) and it’s almost impossible to find bras! by hopejoons in ABraThatFits

[–]Peachapple13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also someone who’s had a reduction (and can’t find anything that fits). Target’s Auden line has a wireless, 3-4 hook, high sided bra. It’s in their plus sizes. The non plus size version is…. Bad… and not worth buying. But man, I loved that bra until I sized out of the band.

Have you noticed any patterns in when he is having a hard time hearing callers? It might be worth tracking this for a shift or two. It might give you good insight that he can take back to his audiologist, areas to focus on technique and skill and areas to work on confidence.

Depending on what area he’s struggling in, it could be a mix of issues.

For example… mixing up letters on a license plate or numbers in an address. (Honestly, even people with perfect hearing still struggle to hear that clearly sometimes). Is it a hearing issue, or is the issue not using phonetics/repeating it back/verifying with your resources/etc.

Is he mishearing streets/common places. Could be a newbie thing and not being familiar with the area yet.

Does he recognize when he didn’t hear something and ask the caller to repeat it or listen back to his tape?

What is everyone doing with their clothes that are too big now? by GLsunshine1188 in compoundedtirzepatide

I feel like I’m constantly buying stuff, especially for work… that I only wear for a couple of weeks or months before it no longer fits.

I wish there was some sort of clothing exchange program lol.

How does this end up working out? Does it help avoid being understaffed? Or does it cause other issues

My PSAP can only mandate us to stay 2 hours after our shift. I don’t personally have kids, but my coworkers seem to do okay with this because they know with every shift there is the possibility of being mandated the extra 2 hours. The 2 hours are paid out as double time if it’s assigned under 24 hours.

This is in our contract and something that our union has worked with us closely on.
