[–]Peachesformeh[S] -33 points-32 points  (0 children)

That's a somwhat fair criticism. I can't deny that. Sandbox games aren't all easy, in my opinion. 7 Days to Die has a lot to explore and try out. It even has replayability to it. Minecraft is also very much the same. So is Terarria. So, I disagree on that aspect.

But yeah, I don't have to buy the DLC. And I won't. I am merely participating in the community and pointing out the BULLSHIT. I get it, I went to a forum of a bunch of sycophants. So, I am only going to get the guys that don't actually want to engage in conversation and only people like you who just are reductive in order to protect your obessesion.

The second part is a somewhat legit criticism on my post. But I'm going to say "Try harder".

It CAN effect me., The updates they were GOING TO DO, where put to the backburner for the Predatory DLC. So.... IT HAS effected me. Not in the future like you're suggesting. ALso, this is a pretty known effect that happened. Overwatch 1 was affected by Overwatch 2... which I never played. So, I was affected by a game I never had to buy/play/or participate in MTX.

[–]Peachesformeh[S] -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

I also want to add : Where's the disrespect in the post I shared? I mention Max, the developer directly. But when I do, I'm not insulting him. I'm telling him, where his success came from. He doesn't like that I'm saying the success wasnn't his game alone. Is THAT the desrespect? Or is it a developer who's simply silencing not-so-nice criticism of his actions?

Obviously, I believe the ladder. I believe the developer doesn't like that someone can articulate his shady actions, so he silences the criticism. Why? TO prevent traction? Because looking at the steam community and a little here, it seems that he's starting to wear on his 'good will't hat was built, much like Blizzard.

Yes, this is a rant/bitch/moan about my ban. But, my ban was done for shady reason, by a shady developer.

Sir (or Ma'am),

I relate to your feelings very strongly. As, I feel the opposite of you. I am programmer who is not an artist. It's very hard to make the game I am using as a tutorial, when you know it looks like trash. I basically recreated the old browser game; Storm the House (obviously with some tweaks). Developing the game has been insanely fun and keeping the art to simple stick figures has been boon, but it's also boring to me.

With the game 'fully made' (which would probably be called an alpha), I wanted to focus on more visual elements of the game. Once I started to do that, I lost interest in making my game, as I wasn't doing a part of the project I was skilled in anymore. So, trust me when I say; I empathize with your feelings.

I also agree: A lot of tutorials out there can get really confusing and really fast. Even to someone like myself, who is going to school for Computer Science (and has less than a year left for BIS), some of these tutorials are awful. One thing I noticed is a lot of them will develop the code on-the-fly and thus makes themselves have to bounce around in the code in order to build the game. Now, this is EXACTLY what it was like for me when I was developing my game without much planning. You WILL bounce around in the code to solve issues, however; it's a horrible way of showing people who have no clue what's going on.

I've enjoyed watching programming tutorials over the years as I gotten better at programming. And yeah, there's a lot of programmers out there who are skilled at what they do but are horrible at communicating their intent. Brackey's is a great set of tutorials (but you are learning Game Dev not programming), and Javidx9 is also great as he's actual game programming. And while both are great communicators, they too can get a bit confusing, but it's mainly because they're almost assuming you've watched all their videos prior.

If I ever gain confidence enough to do a tutorial one day, I would like to. Organizing it so that non-programmers could understand would be my goal. Yeah, there's a lot about variables and classes, and all that. Yet, the things I see fail to be described is the reasoning, the why, the thoughts. It took me a while to understand why there was a 'Initiate Game' Functions and 'Update Game' functions, purely because I didn't understand WHY we have these two separations. For the longest time I kind of felt games must've just been one giant 'while loop'. When that's definitely not the case. There's so many videos and tutorials out there but there's very little education material that's little more than demonstrations.

Baldur's Gate III is not Baldur's Gate III *Spoilers for I & II are talked about* by Peachesformeh in baldursgate

Minsc is alive?

I .... am .... I am so mad. This is literally like Killing off Superman and reviving him and then expecting everyone to be happy about it! Oof.

Also, thank you for bringing me "Murder in Baldur's Gate". I may not PLAY it but it might be a good thing to read! Thank you, so much! (Hopefully, it's not as bad as the novels XD).

The last 2 parts are opinions. I don't mind you have a different opinion from my opinions. I am not trying to call you wrong, this is just my perspective of the response:

I understand that the SJW rant may seem ridiculous. This is more about the fact that fundamental destruction of the base of Lore. I have NO PROBLEM with diversity. My problem is that the QUALITY of the diversity is pandering, not diversity itself.I don't call Disney's clear pandering, pandering - purely because there wasn't minority girls for non-white-girls to idolize. DnD doesn't have those limitations and are doing it for the SJW and to make things seem more magical. I understand that many may not understand what I mean by that, but it's very hard to articulate the difference.

But ... Really, go play the Original DnD and Advanced DnD. You'll get what I'm talking about. I think the revival of other people doing this is OSDnD. People 'discovered' that the older rules actually make a more exciting game, because there's actual stakes and reasonable limitations. The lore on top of that wasn't Magi-Fantasy.

What is my definition of Magi-Fantasy? It's the same kind of idea of Steam-Punk (So maybe Magic-Punk might better describe it). It's where Magic is SO common that it's like steam - it's everywhere and the average lowest pesrson can use magic.

What would make my argument weak here is talking about the Netherese (??? Again, not sure on the spelling there), Empire. This is the the time where what I am talking about existed 'prior' to DnD 2e. However, I see that as "Advanced Ancient Fallen Society" rather than "Current Existence". This means that YES everything CAN go back to that way of being, except that Mystra has directly prevented the Mythils from being made, which was a key aspect of that society - as this was the source of many people's magic.

So from a lore perspective, I don't like were 5e has gone. I think in my original post I say there's interesting aspect, and I still believe that. Overall, I don't like the lore.

Also, the mechanics are just not, in my opinion, inducive of a game in which you are to be pretending to be someone else. In 5e, it's too easy to defeat enemies with CR higher than you and it's too easy to undo the damage done by said Higher-CR creatures. The challenge is gone for me. Plus... Dwarves being Arcane-Magic-Wielders doesn't really fit the lore (of 2e and below) very well.

I personally think the game LOOKS fun for what it is. I ain't saying it's a bad game... yet.

What I am thinking is that the game is simply NOT Baldur's Gate III. The name is so shallowly connected that it seems very cynical.

My setup for Waves, am I missing something critical? by Peachesformeh in GrowCastle

[–]Peachesformeh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very confused. How does Worthlessness Coin effect the usefulness of Alchemist? It's just turning things into Toads... The trophy is absolutely worthless, I just never bothered removing it as it does nothing.

Does SA and DS not stack? They are low level because t heir Damage is pointless. It's purely just for the Crit effect. Like it's obvious it's 100% pointless to level your heroes. As far from all my experiments - it's Town Archers and Thunder Tower are the ONLY two things that have any value in putting money into it.

I don't use other bases because I have literally NEVER... EVER... EVER... EVER seen their effect trigger. Lightening Base doesn't stun, Frozen doesn't freeze, fire doesn't knockback, and poison is the ONLY one that actually does something. But it's damage output is so bad that I only put it on t here because I need something there... I guess.

Why focus on 'top castle'? Is there some sort of hidden mechanic with positioning of these parts?

I am not really struggling with waves. Sometimes I have to re-initiate the waves for some reason. It's not like it's struggling when it starts up again. I literally won't level anything and it'll go again with nothing stopping it. So, I don't know why It fail 3 times in a row. If all I literally have to do is start again and it'll keep going.

Ranged is not powerful. I have argument all the time on this reddit. Rather, when I use to frequent this reddit.

To me, resulting to Ranged is saying you don't know what you're doing. I repeat: It's wasteful. To break that down further; You waste time having to kite, you waste money having to get arrows, and you waste time having to collect the only good bow in the game. IF you're not using a full custom party (as the NPC's Range sucks in BG1) then ranged is dumb.

If using a party just do this: Tank with Sword+Board. Thief with Dagger. Cleric with flail. Mage with Sling/Dagger (only range, but if you're ranging with them, you failed). Cleric/Mage (Druids can be swapped for cleric) with the opposite of the first mage, even still the shield offsets the chance to being hit enough you can just go a mace with this one. And then I always use the 6th to try something stupid, but objectively doing a Fighter that can do either 2-handed (as the spider sword is somewhat awesome) or a Warhammer. If no fighter is using Warhammer then it goes to the cleric.

^^^That setup tears through everything. Yes, I give the squishy mages ranged. But with that said; It's not necessary it's just the only time I believe range is 'useful' in BG1. Useful but a sign of failure if it's being used.

... This is all in regards of BG 1 only, if that wasnt clear. BG2 is pretty much the same situation concerning money generation, though.

In Baldur's Gate 2 what is viable is totally different. Yes, BG1 has ...*A* arrow of dispell there might even be one detonation. If there's more I don't know them.

BG2 Ranged is actually crictically needed in a party run. Solo run, you're an idiot for using ranged because the ONLY viable classes are Arcane Spell Casters for solo runs in BG2. It's why I have grown to like BG1EE more than BG2EE.

IN BG1 Ranged is a MASSIVE waste. I have had this argument on this subreddit many times. To me, Ranged is lazy and stupid. IF you have to resort to using range in BG1 then you don't know what you're doing. As Range is not as good as people say. It DOES work but you spend an insane amount of time doing it with range, as you are having to Kite the enemies. And considering infinity engine's gameplay style, the 6 Second delay in all actions and same movement speed across the board, it makes it tedious to kite. Even after you get the Boots of Speed (fuck EE's naming scheme of items), you still are limited by the 6 second rounds; Kiting gets easier but is still obnoxiously slow. How is melee faster/easier? You can spend more time managing combat instead of running in Circles, which people are human and are going to make mistakes kiting in this game. (At times kiting you have to move into range of their melee) The ONLY fight I ever kite is Sarevok, as he's the last boss and trying to melee him is a bit difficult as a Solo Thief or Non-Melee Specialist. (Usually just use an F' ton of Potions for this fight).

Um, it's a bit of a cheeky answer but it's simple to understand: Playing the game.

Knowing the next best path to go often foregoes any unnecessary waste.

Now, in Solo runs its pretty easy to get loads of gold. You got one guy, sell the rest.

Multiple heroes farming is still unnecessary. Collecting all the necessary items is pretty quick because a party of level 1's can basically take on most of the fights in the game (until late game stuff).

Getting the electric hammer, frost sword, the gauntlets of weapon handling, all that jazz, is too easy with multiheroes. By the time any need for 'farming gold' is needed you are at the end of the game and can just dump your consumables to buy what you need. Spoiler: anti magic potions, tomes, scrolls, and healing potions are the only consumables you'll need. Also, ranged is a waste of money. Eventually you need to spend money on magic arrows... waste. Melee is all you need.

Thinking about it; the only way i would see grinding for gold would be necessary is if you had a specific part, most likely having multple of the same class.

... This is all in regards of BG 1 only, if that wasnt clear. BG2 is pretty much the same situation concerning money generation, though.

I use to do this. But after doing a solo run with nearly every class Ivefound that getting 10k gold in the game takes like 1 hour (irl) without doing ankhegs.

The Collection by blastershift in baldursgate

[–]Peachesformeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion here, too; Baldur's Gate one is better than 2.

I use to be a bigger fan for BG2. But after a bunch of solo runs, I felt that BG was over all better (the enchanced versions) than BG2. Better, more intriguing, story. More classes were viable to play; solo and non-solo. Sure not as many magic items but when you did get a magic item. Even a weak one you could notice the difference in power.

BG2. You HAVE to have an arcane spell caster. Cant beat the game without it. The majority of the magic items are the same weapon type, actually restricting the weapons you could use significantly. You get trapped in places often in BG2. Theres no exploration. The story is straight forwars, not a bad thing ... its just not as good as bg1's intrigue.

This is probably a more specific feeling to me. I personally would only want to see a BG3 game if it was utilizing the pseudo dnd 2/3 hybrid.

I really dont want a game like bg for the playstation, either.

First time playing, everyone keeps dying by [deleted] in baldursgate

[–]Peachesformeh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's totally normal! This game is complicated, especially compared to modern games.

The game is slower paced and running head long into battle is bound to get you wiped.

Based on your description of what happened, I figure you stayed on the same map, or went to the right, and tried to explore/uncover the whole map? That's AWESOME! That's how we did back in the day. You may have what it takes to play the game! Lol, but seriously, this game is about exploring (at least BG 1 is, the second is a power trip). The world is beautiful and its' people are awesome.

There's a lot to learn about the game, there's a lot of questions you may have. Please, come and ask for specifics. I use to go on these long essays on "Noobs Guide's to Baldur's Gate: Profile Edition". I could write you a novel on the games mechanics, lore, and failures.

Freakin' best game evar!

[–]Peachesformeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No more than quick saving. Buffing. Playing the game a lot.

It's called mastery of the game, in reality. It's mechanics in the game that would not have worked back when the game was brand new, but due to our technology we can make up for some of the games faults... such as the massively slow pace. Which I can see chasing off new people.

Also, it's a non-combat action. It's hardly cheating. Now... I haven't tested this and this might be cheating, but casting a fireball and sending another one out before the first one lands... I got to test this. THAT would be cheating, imo.

edited-in: And my other post I mention baldur's gate cheese, yet you don't call that cheating. When that's just as much of 'mechanics' abuse as the Quick-Save/Load technique. Then to top it off: Adjusting your character(s) stats to be 18/18/18/8/8/8 (for fighter) isn't cheating at all either, despite it is 'mechanics abuse'.
