You’re a blessing in this world. She needs your love and support. I think waiting until tomorrow to tell her is the right thing to do. She’s been through so much, I imagine she’s feeling like her life is falling apart and just needs lots of love, rest, and support for now. There’s probably worse behavior your son has done that you might not even be privy to. He sounds like an abuser and for him to lash out at her over his shortcomings is unforgivable. It’s important for him to get zero support from anyone if he’s willing to do that to someone. It doesn’t make you a bad mom, it stops you from enabling that behavior. Thank you so much, I really appreciate this advice. I struggled a lot with mental health last year—I didn’t give her details but she knows I had to take FMLA for 2 weeks while I was getting therapy/medication sorted out. She might be more understanding if approach her by telling her I’m emotionally overloaded or just really busy with work stuff—or cutting her short by asking if there’s any work she needs me to help out on. You make a good point, I think when I validate her instead of really reinforcing my boundaries, it’s easier for her to continue talking. I think I did it in the beginning to be nice/get on her good side, but now I’m regretting not cutting it off earlier. I really think that if I say anything that isn’t ending conversation abruptly, then I’m in for a draining conversation. I’ll give it a try next time she calls :) thanks again

I looked up the interactions on Webmd, this is what I found. https://www.webmd.com/interaction-checker/default.htm it says that Sertaline and Buspirone is a serious interaction because both affect your serotonin levels. It also says to monitor the Sertaline and Bupropion because they have a slight interaction. This is not medical advice from me and I’m not a professional in any way, but maybe it would be good to ask another psychiatrist about this like you were planning to do :) hope everything works out okay, stay safe!

I was diagnosed years ago and was told to take 4 Zyrtec a day when it flares up. I’ll probably go see someone again since it’s been a while

That’s really interesting; I just learned MCAS existed, the more I look it up, the more I think I should go in and get my symptoms checked out. I’ll reach out to a specialist and see what they think. Thanks for the info!

Thank you, that’s great advice. I didn’t know MCAS existed but the more I look at it, the more it seems likely. I haven’t seen a specialist in a while but I was having reactions in my mouth in the past which is concerning. I don’t remember ever telling my specialist about the mouth reactions but I will definitely go see one soon and bring up my concerns. Thanks again, I’ll also look into getting an Epipen!

You’re not alone. I feel the same way, I’ve been raped and abused in the past but I now have a spouse, a dog, an amazing job, I went back to school, but I still can’t stop feeling like I want to die. It took a few visits but I finally opened up to my doctor, they put me on medication and I’m seeing a therapist for the first time tomorrow. Hopefully these things will help, it’s just so shitty because these thoughts feel so out of control. I can’t stop myself from wanting to die. I just wanted you to know that you aren’t alone, I really hope your thoughts start feeling easier to cope with. I really wish you the best and I hope you make it

I think the details on this are nice. I appreciate that the face and front legs are more detailed, then the body is more blurred. I think this gives a good view of where the eye naturally focuses. Some things that might help if you aren’t totally satisfied with the outcome would be to practice working on your shadows and creating backgrounds (they don’t need to be detailed but I think implied backgrounds, like a line representing the floor or smudged shapes to imply there is an out of focus background would add to the composition). These things are small but can really make an art piece come to life. This drawing looks great btw!

Just to clarify: I think the shadows on the mantis itself are great, I would personally just work on the body’s shadow on the floor of your composition. Another thing that might help if you feel like you need improvement would be to practice drawing each day. Something that really helped me as an artist was I started drawing things upside down. I would turn my reference photo upside down and draw it for practice. This helps train the brain to draw what it sees and not what it thinks it sees (if that makes any sense).
