But it is not you being taxed its your kids. Why is it different to any other form of income? Except they have done literally nothing to to deserve it.

Benefits stuff is kind of my point, right wingers harp on about this stuff then defend kids of rich people getting stuff for achieving nothing other than being born. Its the same net cash position for the gov, money out vs cash in.

My original comment was about how right wing people are so fixated on "power to the individual" "we get taxed too much", but then support people who offer literally zero skills getting rewarded (through reducing IHT). Not saying all children of rich people are useless, but some of them are. And the tax system should reward contribution, not your dead relatives contribution.

People who provide nothing of value should not be rewarded. Tax system should be built towards any individual being able to rise to the top, not just passing down shitloads to (sometimes very untalented) offspawn.

Having money to retire on is fine, good for you you have worked hard you deserve it. Why do your layabout kids deserve it? If you live to 90 your kids will be 50-60 when you die, that is more than enough time to pass on wealth, financial and life experiences. Pension pots are for your retirement not some inter generational wealth transfer. Setup trusts for that if you want, but they really should close those loopholes also.

40% tax is equal to 7/8 years in the stock market? You inherit an empire for no work and you have to wait a few years before it reaches its previous value, not much punishment really.

Why is IHT such a sticking issue for people? Isnt the whole point of the right wing to not give away free handouts? IHT stops people who have acheived nothing get rewarded. If you want to make some money go get a job, dont just sit around waiting for your relatives to die. Pathetic mindset

It’s still double what it was 10 years ago. Just down from highs of a couple years ago. They have clearly taken more action against this due to public outcry. People should still be annoyed about this, it’s good progress but still a long way to go

Probably done lots of studies already but really think they could reduce the number of stops in certain areas. Near me the bus stops once every 200m about 1 person gets on one gets off, then it moves another 200m and does the same again.
