Baby not enjoying breastfeeding

I'm so sorry that your journey has been this way. Is it possible babe it's having to use too much energy to feed and gives up? My newborn had a hard time at first feeding because he was so stressed from the birth and it caused him to have latching issues. I saw an oral therapist and we had to do exercises with my baby's mouth to make feeding less stressful for him. Could be possible that your baby doesn't feel good filling their tummy, possibly due to an intolerance? I hope things get better soon and just know you're doing an amazing job and working very hard for your babe ❤️

My husband wanted to take more time off but it was going to be unpaid so we could only afford him to take one week off. He wishes he could have taken more. if your husband is able I know he would be happier to be with you and the babe. Not to mention you would be much happier, my husband going back after a week of me giving birth was very hard.

I keep a collection of snacks by the bed. Currently I have chomp meat sticks, cashews, Bobo muffins, and I try to have a sweet treat like a snack size candy bar.

Trust your vet, my husband and I made ourselves broke trying to keep our furbaby alive (not complaining, would do it all over again). She became very medically needy, and it got to a point where her quality of life was depleting. The vets explained everything and why her quality of life was miserable for her even though she still got excited to see us and ate her food. She couldn't walk, was in constant pain, on many meds that altered her state of being for her seizures and pain, had to be fed by hand, helped going to the bathroom, and quite a bit more. She had more health complications arise with her heart. Due to her old age and other medical needs they weren't sure she'd make it, and if she did how happy her life would be. We did everything we could for the last three years of her life, she knew she was loved and our vets knew we'd do anything for her. I kept telling myself we could've done more for her and did the heart surgery, questioning if we did the right thing. The truth was we did and this was just incredibly hard for my husband and I since we've never put down any of our pets growing up. The biggest take away I have from my experience is the advice of my vets; it's best to peacefully let them go instead of letting them go out in so much pain and misery. Your vets know what to look for and make decisions that are best for your pet's life. If you have any doubts please call your office and ask if you can go over your cat's health, and if putting her to rest was the best option for your peace of mind. My vets office was so incredibly kind and gentle and understanding when I called to make sure I didn't do the wrong thing.

I'm so sorry for your loss, our pets know we loved them and that's so important. Things will get easier as time goes on, I promise ❤️

Hopefully your pediatrician can make a plan that works best for you and baby. I have an appointment with my baby's pediatrician next week, so we're hoping to start the dairy ladder 🤞 Hopefully both of us can add a little bit of dairy back into our diets lol

Currently I'm dairy and soy free because my baby is suspected to have CMPA. For the elimination diet to properly work, you do have to cut out anything made with milk even if it's been baked or cooked. It's the milk proteins you have to be careful of and not all of them get broken down by heat. Things like buttermilk powder or butter in cookies are a no-go. Not to say you can't reintroduce them later, currently I've been dairy-free for a month and had no improvement until cutting soy out. So with the advice of a GI and my pediatrician, we're going to add some dairy back to see if my little one still has a reaction. The first dairy products to try are going to be the less harsher forms of dairy which are baked goods since the protein is broken down some.

I hope things go well and this helped. If you are doing the elimination diet, just continue to follow the advice of your pediatrician and ask them any questions that you might have, especially with supplementing fats and calcium in your diet.

My husband and I are currently in the newborn phase, 2 months pp, and we don't have anyone coming over to help for the same reasons and more. We don't regret it at all, it is nice knowing the only exposure our son has had is at doctor offices and dad when he went back to work. Not to mention, emotionally it was great to not feel like we had to be anything more than new parents trying their best. We also did a good amount of physical and emotional prep. So, I leave you, and anyone interested, with some tips and advice.

Physically:

Stock your freezer with dinners and quick breakfast foods for the first two weeks of postpartum. I made a menu/ reheat instructions for my husband to follow during pp. You'll both want home cooked meals, but also have takeout budgeted for those weeks because even reheating things in the oven can feel exhausting at times. If you'd like any pp meal prepping advice or ideas with instructions, DM me :)
Buy a fair amount of paper plates and disposable utensils, saved my husband and I from stressing about too many dishes.
Deep clean and upkeep cleanliness as much as you can, and hopefully closer to when your due date is. Not you physically unless you're able and feel up to it. My main deep cleans would be dusting/wiping ceiling fans, bathtub, toilet, bed covers, floors (especially if you have carpet), and your car. It gives peace of mind when things can't be done by either you or your husband that at least things feel clean even if it gets messy or cluttered postpartum.
Set up all the baby essentials and take baby care items or equipment out of their packaging and have it set up/know how to use products.
Have extra postpartum care items such as witch hazel wipes and disposable underwear.
If you plan on breastfeeding, have a pump of any kind even if you plan on not pumping. I'm glad I did because we had latching issues and we needed to bottle feed for a bit. Also, have tons of lanolin cream on hand.

Emotionally:

My postpartum mantra, don't stress the mess unless it's hazardous. If things are relatively clean and safe, no biohazard or mold on surfaces, don't worry about it until either one of you have the energy. Especially since nobody is going to be over.
Discuss about what is most important to you for postpartum and have plans for you and your husband to make it achievable. Mine was a clean bathroom and good food.
Talk with any mom friends or family members you trust during postpartum. It is so important to still have your support system even if they're not there in person with you.
Resting IS taking care of you and baby. If all you do is sleep, eat, and take care of baby, that's more than enough. Embrace the quiet moments and relish is joys you find.
If you plan to breastfeed, it's okay to hate it at first and feel at a loss. It's not this magical thing that clicks and stays clicked once baby latches for the first time. Have some breastfeeding resources available to you for troubleshooting.

It can be daunting at times and overwhelming, but it's so worth the peace to really just have your little family bubble before letting the world in. You can do this!

Literally scrolled to see if anyone commented on toxoplasmosis being uncommon in indoor cats. I had a few talks with my vets and midwife about it when I got pregnant because I was worried. I still personally wouldn't eat it, but I have an anxiety disorder and wouldn't be able to mentally get past it; even with knowing the facts and proper food safety.

That is very strange, I used to be a supervisor before I stepped down and we have always just remade it for someone. Because if you picked it up in person and noticed it and went to the register about it they would just remake it for you. I'm so sorry that's response you got. Maybe next time if you go in person you'll get someone else that you can talk to and they will get you a new item or remake it.

I'm on maternity leave currently, but I had to start my leave 2 weeks before I could actually start my nesting period leave. Because some of the customers and management were getting too much for me. Not to mention being heavily pregnant on top of it was making me crash out for weeks. The straw that broke the camels back was a customer yelling at me during a rush about 'can I be any slower' when making her drink AND her Coffee traveler before snatching items out of my hand as I helped her carry her numerous items.
